Whatever happened to the Aquadapter?

I personally have pinched off more than anything. Tried the inline and like stated, got to find it or hold it .

To me, it is all about what works for you. If that is using an aqua adapter , Unger’s solution, Aqua-tap or inline.
Then use it.

Each has strengths and weakness.

I may try Unger’s on my new nLite. Since it’s Unger on Unger may work better than I have read ?

I mean come one. Blah blah spend your money on tools that work for you. It’s yours spend it how you want.

Enough of hey don’t spend $150 for something you really don’t need. If I feel I need it, I am going to spend the money for it. Tho I may find out. Hmm maybe should a bought something else. But hey that’s life move on !!

In that process we find something that works way better. Just costs a little $$$ on the way.

I agree with all your points. An I like the aqua adapter . I have , an aqua on one pole, an a inline on the other . I was meaning to buy another aqua never got around to it… , but with the inline it does it’s job yes you can pinch the hose still for instant cut-off. The one thing if you have to walk away them that’s when the inline comes into play . Worth it for 20 bucks IMO .

I love my Aqua-dapter, for me it’s a necessity with an on-demand system and a limited water supply. The operation is simple and you don’t have to go searching for and or dragging a shut off valve that would get stuck in landscaping. The the fact you can route the tubing internally which doesn’t look possible with the Aqua-tap is also a must. The wheel does keep falling off and eventually I’ll probably lose it, but other than that it works flawless.

I’m a big fan of just pinching/kinking the hose. When I need to leave the pole for a few minutes, I tie a knot where I kinked it- takes all of 5 seconds. I carry my water in a 25 gallon tank, so water savings is critical. I’ll even kink the hose while I scrub.

When I’m done, I use the quick connect fitting at the brush to stop the flow. K.I.S.S.

i appreciate those points Alex and can see why that works for you. Unfortunately I have come to realize what’s simple to us as owner operators doesn’t always translate as well to hourly employees. They seem to have to remember so much as it is especially when we are not on site. IMO the aquadapter is the simple solution.
But, as stated we all have differing opinions and that’s what makes the forum fun. So I’m right your wrong… Ha! JK

Hmm. Another way to look at it is…it does seem these aqua adapters are fragile . I’m the only one that uses my pole so… My question is how many have your guys gone through. I saw a post with you saying your guys go through ninja handles lol I can’t imagine an aqua adapter lasting . Just curious. If they are that’s great then.

Out of everything out there I believe the aqua adapter would be best for you guys that are trying to conserve water . Although I am privy to the inline valve. You just have to be weary of it , an it’s not that far away where it’s a big deal to bend down an turn it off . I can see the obstruction thing though with bushes an the like

Pinching a hose when you are 100-150’ or more away from the tank system can work… But when you have to leave the pole for a minute to pull hose or its snagged on a bush etc. your not leaving the pole up two stories whith water coming down being wasted. 1.8 gpm adds up, what happens when unexpectedly the homeowner pops out with a question? 1.8 gal flowing again… My crew and I prefer the hose inside the pole, so the ease of use (despite extra moving parts) helps maintain the employees not to waste water. Being out in the field day in and out trying different things is why I put the aquadapter at its place in our set up, and why it did help ‘save the day’.We have tried most things on the market and this is what we find that works best. I don’t know who manufactures it, nor do I personally endorse or try to sell products for companies, just a regular guy offering my experience for others to take or leave.

Yes, my employee’s tend to abuse Ninja Handles lol

apparently you have not had the chance to use one, since you referred to them as “fragile”. I would not say that at all, but like everything it has weaknesses. But so does everything.

To answer: Over the past three or four years we have gone through two or three… The first models where not as tough as the latest ones we have baught through WCR. Currently we have three in use. The oldest of those being a couple years old. Do I expect them to last forever, nope. Would they last longer if I was the only one using them… Probably. But again, it’s the time savings with the employee that I feel it’s worth the extra expense. If someone comes up with a better concept or tool I will be more than happy to try it out and even replace the aquadapter.
I wish I knew for sure, but cannot give an exact whether it was two or three that broke… One was my fault I have to admit: I left water traped in the small plastic tube that connects to the brush hose and it froze. The expansion split the plastic tube and it leaked all over after it thawed. Lesson learned.

Sorry Jerimiah fragile is a wrong choice of words. Mine just broke after two years. My friend broke his within 6 months … I understand stuff breaks , an nothjng last forever. I would buy two more right now … I’m actually kicking myself for not buying another one.

I was just curious …I’m not knocking your guys , but I remember that post about the handles you started , and was wondering if or how many you/they have gone through.

That’s all. Soooo. They break handles , an there good with your poles. Ha!!! That’s good

believe you me, I am perplexed as well lol

I must yell more when they mistreat a 1 or 2k pole and not enough when they are throwing Ninja handle to the Lions at the Zoo

I understand your question better now… Mike. Thanks for understanding as well

k.i.s.s.

sorry Mike… I still can’t see trying to locate that while working as simple. I must be missing something

Jeremiah: Allow me to explain. I open my pants belt and place the shut off valve by my front right pocket with the hose under the belt and buckle my belt back up. It’s right there next to my right hand hanging from my belt. Some guys hold the valve in their bottom hand while they work.

^ sounds dirty make sure you wash your hands when done

I actually broke many more inline taps than I did aquadapters - just from dragging them around behind me - they get a battering off the floor!

When my aquadapter did “break” it was just the spring,… a 2 minute fix.

I think they’re a brilliant bit of kit - I had one of the original MK1’s when they were first released & the new ones are now shorter and half the weight of the originals. Stephen Jones (No relation) is the guy who sells them - he can be contacted direct at [email protected]

There was one revision of the AD about a year ago that had some problems - a bad batch of parts from a Chinese contractor meant a large percentage of failures and returns, and I guess this was a factor in many US distributors decision to take them off the shelves,… so far as I know the warranty was honoured on all of them & the fault was rectified in future iterations of the design though,…

Just saying …:: :slight_smile:

Hey Nate , I can email that guy an he can get me one. Yes?

Thanks bud!

My point I’m obviously not making clear…

Ots not that I don’t get how to hold onto a shut off valve, I’ve tried this method. I don’t like the “I just peed my pants” look from not getting the hose in quite right by accident
The time savings I found using this method wasn’t as much as the AD. Glad it works for you. I noticed I would end up messing with a lot of hose around the feet.

I hear you. Seems easy to me.

I have read so many posts about aquadapter problems I wouldn’t want to take a chance.

PS (they’re also heavy)

I bought the MK1 I believe. From the get-go it was very temperamental for me and an employee did it in, and I don’t think it was from abuse. Needless to say, I wasn’t keen on buying another. I’ve used the inline valve on and off over the years, but have found the one pictured earlier to wear out on me way too quickly for the price. So lately, I’ve been just kinking the hose and when I need to unstick my hose from something or shut off the water at the spigot, I either run if nobody is around or reach, stretch, and pinch my way over.

the MK1 was heavy BostonMike mentioned and IMO junk. I hated cutting my pole tip to install it, too many issues. But the newer versions with the euro threads we like.
I like your reach stretch and pinch your way over disccription lol that’s funny Dan
