We are looking to purchase a sales car for next season. This vehicle will be used for running estimates, post carding, and all other sales purposes. Im trying to get past the ideas that driving anything other than a truck is not professional. Id love to drive a car thats fully wrapped for gas purposes, but I feel people would wonder how legit of a company we are. I thought about a smart car thats fully wrapped? Only because people would obviously know our crews don’t work out of smart cars, and its unique and eye catching.
If I were to get a vehicle solely for sales, it would be either a Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris (hatchback - the sedan is ugly), or Scion xD. A 2/3 wrap, or even nice lettering, will make pretty much any newer vehicle look “legit”. And lot’s of people will appreciate the fact that you’re not burning any more gas than you need to.
Prius. Great on gas in town averages 55 mpg hwy 42 mpg. Pretty damn roomy too. Got a bucket belt collapsible pole screen cleaner plus a whole lot more. If I’ve got something far away and don’t want to burn diesel I take the Prius. I love it 150k miles and regular oil changes
I can’t recommend a Ford Transit highly enough for an estimate vehicle. Around a year ago we were in need of a strictly estimate vehicle. I was considering a small truck or car and someone mentioned the Transit. It’s worked out great. It has the compact size that is great but also has the cargo area in the rear. In addition to estimates, It’s great for running equipment to crews or the shop, picking up supplies, running a pressure washer to get repaired…the list goes on. We’ve even used it in a pinch to do jobs when we’ve had a truck down, although I would not want to make that a frequent use due to its small size. It also looks good lettered up.

I would LOVE a transit. They are just so darn expensive… They hold their value really well it seems like. Its tough buying a transit when I can get a commercial grade Colorado for $3,500… When a transit is going to run me 9k at a minimum. I wish they were less expensive
I used to do bids from my motorcycle with the paperwork in the saddlebags! It was fun but those days are over. I agree that a hatch back or small transit type cargo is very wise cause you know you’re gonna load something bulky in there at some point. I’m 6’ 6" so I’d never own a smart car personally.
The Nissan leaf I believe is electric only , battery can last you 120 miles.
Or you can do electric plus gas like the Prius, it does like 25 miles on battery then it goes to gas at 45 mpg . If you drive less than 25 miles a day, you’ll never buy gas , but Incase you do it , well switch to gas

if youre not gonna make it a work/sales vehicle at least get something fun to drive vw gti, jeep wrangler, subaru sti, mini cooper s… or if you want something real cost effective but imo nerdy take a look at the new elio, that’ll make your wallet happy
