When do you stop doing gutter cleaning

we’ve had a Long fall here and people just started to call to get their gutters done…the problem is that snow is about hit. I was wondering what is reasonable? at what point is it just better to leave gutters for spring?

I used to do gutter cleanouts, it was time to stop when they came out as a block of ice.

yeah this is true. My issue is that we schedule people ahead… I just dont know at what point to stop scheduling. its about to start being -2,-3 overnight and during the day hovering at about 3 degrees

Oh heck no. My cut off is about 40f. After 26 years my joints are in no mood to deal with the cold.

why? it’s dirty dangerous, stinky AND DANGEROUS but mostly because it conflicts with window cleaning

You may want to consider skipping gutter cleanouts and add screen repair. It’s quite lucrative. We charge $15 for half screens, goes up from there. Porches are very profitable if you know how to do them right.

We do VERY well on gutter cleaning… we charge a lot and most of the time its done safely from the ground with a vacuum. Its definitely worth doing but I just don’t think its physically possible at a certain point- you know? ice chunks and all. I just wanted to make sure im not just being unreasonable

About 30 seconds into 2020 I stopped for those exact reasons, plus the profit margins suck unless you can stick and move 10 houses on the same block.

It’s a pain but we have a long list of gutter clean outs waiting on us. If it pops up over freezing we’re cleaning them out ice chunks and all! Lol. Condo gutter cleanings are usually pretty nice and profitable

Yeah I don’t know what your market is like but here you can easily get a 1,000$ Day and be done by 1 by doing just gutters

We clean a ton of gutters. And we do it all year long and into the winter. Our prices will almost double when it won’t go above freezing though. We use hoses to thaw the ice and loosen it from the gutter. It’s not too bad once you figure out the system. I built a portable 3gpm hot water unit to help melt the ice. I’m looking forward to testing it out soon. A hot water pressure washer would work nice too.

Once it gets below 10-15f I’m waiting till a warmer day though. But we will see with this hot water unit

woooooow hats off to you. Yeah im not sure we’re that committed.
