How do you guys usually handle your advertising for gutter cleaning in the fall? Since all of my advertising is geared toward window cleaning, I will most likely have to switch the focus from window cleaning to gutter cleaning in the fall. Or, I could just put a coupon for window cleaning and gutter cleaning on my advertisements in the fall. I know most people don’t want to clean their gutters until the leaves have fallen. When is the best time to get the advertisements out? How do you guys go about advertising both window cleaning and gutter cleaning. Two separate marketing campaigns would get very expensive.
Start now. Different peices. One for the impotance of getting them done before the rains, and one for before the winter, one durring the rains. If you wait for just durring the winter, you may not get such a good response…just my opinion. I may be wrong though.
Kurt I don’t have much to say about marketing campaigns but for us gutter cleaning goes year round actually it is probably our most consistent service.
There seems to be 3 groups you can put people into
- Those who believe you should clean before the rainy season comes
- Those who believe you should clean them once the rainy season is over
- Those who believe you should clean them as needed (the think it is needed when water pours over the side of their gutters)

Thanks for the posts guys. From what I read there is a gutter cleaning season in the fall. I could not find when this season started and ended from a brief search of the forum. If any of you can tell me when this “gutter cleaning season” starts and ends I would appreciate it.
Looking at my 09 sales, gutter cleaning was 25% of overall sales
big push started in October, peaked in Nov stayed strong thru Jan.
Next wave was April/May
July shot up out of no where
Kurt I would mention it on the reg… But this year we are going to be doing a big push Sept 15 - Oct 31 for people to pre schedule and reserve there appointment. At a slight discount… Then from Nov 1 - Dec 31 they are at normal prices…
We watch the leaves and normally Start them all 2nd week in November.
So I’m assuming that peak gutter cleaning occurs from Nov 1st - Dec 31st to make sure the gutters get cleaned after all of the leaves have fallen. Thanks a lot for the info guys. That’s exactly what I needed.

Kurt - we never stop advertising gutter cleans.
We advertise it all year because there are people who forget about it until a summer rainstorm starts flowing out of the top there full gutters.
Hey, Kurt I’ve had 2 gutter calls this week. And because I hang Christmas makes it really easy to up sell gutter cleaning. I alway check while I’m there. Just for that ad on. In fact this year my web site brought me tons of gutter cleaning.
I guess I should rephrase my question. I always advertise gutter cleaning on my website and do gutter cleaning all year around. I actually do quite a bit of gutter cleaning now. My question really was is there a time of year that people seem to gravitate towards gutter cleaning more than other parts of the year. That seems to be in the fall after the leaves have fallen according to posts.
