Whiteboards

Looking to get a whiteboard for the home office and wondering what you have tried with success, I may be moving in the next 3-4 months and would love an option that wouldn’t be painting over it again soon.

-It seems like IdeaPaint is the priciest, at about $225/50sqft.

-Whiteyboard is a stick on roll version of this(?) which runs around $175 a 5x9 sheet.

-There also seems to be a number of people online talking about using some kind of shower board from Home Depot for around $15/32sqft sheet.

Any whiteboard masters out there?

I have this in my office its absolutely amazing… Its perfect - Just expensive.

A good choice if your going to have the office for more than a couple of years.

I used to have this in my old AC office. Its pretty good… held up nice… kinda hard to get on the wall right.

I have had a lot of these over the years - There a great price and they do the trick - They burn the markers out kinda quick and sometimes don’t clean off so well especially if something has been up for a while.

Chris did you have to coat the hardboard with anything or it was good to go? seems like the way to go for a temp office then.

I bought my hardboards at Menards. They work great for me. Certainly MUCH LESS expense than other options and they function just as well. I use the heck out of them.

It costs $9 for a 4x8’sheet at the hardware store, our office is covered with them. Spent under $100

Yeah, until I make it big time like Chris and Curt…

I went with a sheet from Home Depot for $11. Then bought some molding to put around it $20. Looks good, works great.

Chris is right though that if you leave something up for a long time it doesn’t want to erase. I just keep a micro fiber and a spray bottle with some water in it, and it will remove anything stubborn just fine. (Typically this isn’t a problem though, unless I leave something up there longer then a month)

Thanks guys, gonna go pick up a couple today.

Anybody “season” their boards with mineral oil or the like? Just buff it in and it makes erasing a whole lot easier…

Nope. Just use it as is. I do use the dry eraser cleaner made for white boards though. Helps a bunch.

dont put a whiteboard on a dark wall or itll never get used much.

Got them up, a little more expensive than you guys were finding though - $40 a sheet.
Work great so far, thanks for the help. Apparently you can wax them and the erase problem goes away… noticed the mineral oil mention above.
Cheers.
