Who does pressure washing?

our company does power washing

Rexarbuckle, you’ll need a hot water unit. With water in the 200-220 range the gum melts off like butter with a 40 degree tip. Hot water is the only realistic way to remove gum.

I added power washing just a few weeks ago. No calls yet. It’s gutter cleaning season right now.

I just sold a trailer mounted hot water unit. and heat is the key.

But…I still own and use a daimer 5000 CVG gum busting steam machine.

I can remove about 400 spots of gum an hour without wasting hundreds of gallons of water, no hose bib hook up required and…I can do it without burning gasoline or the fuel for a burner.

I had both. A hot water trailer and the steam machine. I also still have a cold water unit.

Gum…and grease…need heat of some sort.

The steam is easier to use and sell…but the hot unit cleans better on the grease pits and dark areas around the front doors.

[QUOTE=We Wash Windows;70]How many other window cleaners here offer pressure washing services? I do! I have a hot water rig and do mostly commercial flat work. Although I know how to wash houses, I rarely do. It’s been a GREAT addition to my business.[/QUOTEI

I do under the simplest manners of operation. I have a belt driven 4000 psi 4 gpm machine with about 200 ft of hose and an X-Jet. We rarely climb ladders and use Powerhouse & 12% bleach on most of my houses. (Sometimes I use reg strength bleach)

My set up is similar to Seth’s and ACWC’s. Very simple set up that does a great job on siding. I mostly do vinyl siding as aluminum I find can be a sticky deal. I plan on advancing my efforts in time as I have made solid profit from pressure washing this past year.

I also have a contract for washing some storage containers. Steady work but the price has been driven down so I will most likely opt out of that gig once things are going strong after this recession we are experiencing.

I recommend pressure washing to all window cleaners as an add on. I also recommend they learn the “soft washing” method as driving water underneath siding could be costly.

I think you can find a 4 gpm machine at a price about half of that. Wait for the dealers to have blowout sales and go make a bid. I bought my 4000psi 4gpm machine for $850. It was slightly used though. Has been a great investment thus far.

Where do you purchase your 12% bleach. Why not down stream with chem injector instead of using x-jet? Do you have any pics of your set up.

I’m thinking to add house washing to my business lines. Got several questions about it this past year. How does one go about learning pressure washing?

I offer power washing (soft wash) to my residential customers. I don’t do flat work, just house washing. I’m not looking to get big into power washing. I just had so many customers ask if I did it and I hated to turn them down. It’s a great add-on service.

I bought a light weight unit this year, worked one day to pay for it and made $400 bucks the next day. Nice break from the squeegee.

Hey Micah, I started off with a window cleaning business and slowly turned it over to almost 80% pressure washing.

Is the $ that much better?

Looks like I’m going to offer the service. Doing my research now.

Hey; how would you price a delivery truck cleaning? I have a furniture store that I do windows and they asked me if I would pressure wash their delivery trucks. They are single axle “van front” trucks. I dont have a clue about pricing something like this.

How often do they have to be cleaned, and how many trucks are there? Exterior only?

Do you know about how long it will take you? Take the above questions into consideration, and find out how much you need to make per hour…

Plenty of free information available. If you wish a more personalized training format there are schools available.

We started pressure washing late last year, we sent a letter to all our existing window cleaning customers telling them we were expanding our services to include pressure washing. One customer has asked us to wash their delivery trucks; does anybody have an idea how much to charge for something like that?

One guy will charge 20 dollars a truck. Another will charge 100 dollars a truck. There are many variables including the kind of equipment you have, frequency of cleanings, are they looking for a rinse or a detailed cleaning? Prices can vary greatly from state to state, not to mention across the country.

You should find out how much YOU need to make on the job, and what the market will bear to get the most out of the job.

Sorry, but I think that’s the only way to bid that kind of work. You’ll either loose money or loose the bid if you price it on what somebody else is charging.

What psi is he using in that video? By the way welcome to the forum Larry.
