Customers can’t always tell when a window has been done, and there are isses.
I’m assuming you are going there tomorrow to check the work.
And when you re-affirm that he (your guy) did, and can tell the difference,
between a window that’s “been done” and one that hasn’t
I would just ask my guy to do it one more time to placate the client.
If it’s just 1 window, it doesn’t take that long, does it?

once I got a complaint the other side of town…to wipe a ledge! litterally one ledge.

Yeah, but how much is that client worth to you over the year? A $20 route job every 2 weeks is worth $520. So the way I look at it is: would I drive across town to pick up $500 bucks? Yup.
Plus it’s my company, my image, and my reputation - so yeah, I’ll make it right.
Trust your guy until you have reason not to. More than likely the manager didn’t even see him clean it and just wants to complain. So create a “Call Back” form, check the window, reclean if necessary, and have the manager sign off on it and put it in their file. It shows him that you’re a professional and yes, he can trust you to take care of it and no, he doesn’t have to hover over your employee.

Alleviate it by apologizing first. Then say no problem whether he did it or not we will come an just do it again.
Never make anything out to be a big deal. Trivialize everything. :). Then talk to your guy an let him know what happened. Don’t take the mangers side with him and don’t take the employs side with the manager
Let me tell us something about managers some can be cool others want to show there authority. An can be real dicks about things.
Believe me back in the days I had my run in with Managers. I could sit here an tell ya stories . Some of them are just miserable some are the nicest people in the world all in all now I try to get on the best side of them.

One thing that is great about Windiw cleaning is that everything cam be fixed. It’s not like we cut a marble counter top "6 short

" hey buddy ya wanna wipe that up better. Did you do the window in the back . How about these mirrors do those. can you get those next time for me. . Don’t give me the ticket till your done . I didn’t see you do those windows. On an on and on. Ya they could be real pains.

If the account is worth it, I would send a guy over to do the obligatory “kiss ass/re-wipe window” trip. Sometimes you gotta take one for the team.

Naw, if I trusted my employee, I’d go myself. If it’s a problem employee on commission, then I’d send him because here’s an important lesson: do it right the first time and you don’t have to do it for free a second time.

My friend that got me started out told me a funny story:
He did a Papa Johns cheap because it was right next door to a big monthly customer, and the manager had a deal where if he wanted insides done, the manager would hold the neon signs out of the way himself. My friend didn’t want to worry about the sign breaking because it was old and he wasn’t charging much, and everyone was happy with this arrangement.
A new, young manager took over and says to my friend, “Hey, you forgot to do the inside.”
My friend explained the arrangement for doing the insides, and the manager said, “Well I don’t care what the old manager did. I’m the new manager, and you’re gonna do it my way.”
A month later, my friend is back. He soaps up the outsides and is putting his squeegee on when the manager comes out.
Smugly, he said, “Hey, we’re getting a new window cleaner. So this’ll be your last time. Sorry, man.”
My friend drops his mop in his bucket, puts his squeegee away, and says “Don’t be.” Then he walks off, windows still covered with cleaning solution.
The manager calls after him, “Well hey, you can still do it this time!”
My friend says, “That’s okay. It’s probably for the best.”
And that is the beauty of having so much business that don’t have to put up with people disrespecting.

I would go back and clean the window. I would not say a word about it, I would just walk up, clean the window and leave, without a word to anyone. Someone will see you do it. I believe and trust my staff, or they wouldn’t be working with me. Sometimes the best fight to win, is the one that doesn’t start
Once a month Inside out. No particular date to do in that month as long as its done before the 15th
Sent my guy back…did the Inside again and the manager signed the SOS and wrotte excellent work!!! with a smiley face.
Its happened before…and usually its over nothing…but thats business…
It’s also about integrity - that balance between doing the window again yourself as a manager and making sure you’re not perceived as a door mat for future nit picking.
