Who's using Home Advisor and is it working?

Is home advisor working for anyone? I’ve checked out their reviews and it has it’s ups and downs…anyone having luck?

i did it for 3 yrs.poop. yes -made $ but leads expensive… lotta junk leads. if someone is looking for a window guy-if they type in enuf info-BAM-you are charged for the lead. many customers said ""i was just looking/thinking. but i typed in my info-i didn’t expect to get a call’’ some w/clners may like it…ok. but so many junk leads. $18 a lead. 3 leads supplied to a customer. and yr not the first to get the lead. its in random, thumbtack seems better. smith is good too. i have been w/living social coupon 4 years. love it. discount=yes but upsell! i love it. just started groupon, another great one. people love coupons! its a ladies thing. women are the bulk of my calls. so.+…home advisor never checks their leads. getting credit for bad lead? FORGET IT! won’t happen. thanks window cleaning-what a great life!! PS…join the forum!

I have Gismith texting me with leads but I’m not set up and can’t do much if I don’t, how much does Gismith cost?

Great advice thanks man!!

I’m more interested to hear if anyone has tried out the new Amazon service. I really haven’t heard anything about it since launch last year. I hope this means it is doing poorly. These middlemen companies are a headache and cost you money.

And yet we keep paying them to outrank us.
(I don’t, but…)

Just started using it. Booked one residential lead so far and working a $1200 commercial account from them also. Still have a couple of on site quotes as well so could close more. In terms of cost, I am ahead already so we’ll see how it goes. Big indicator for me will be to see if these customers become repeats. I know a lot of people hate Thumbtack but we do really well with that and the clients have a high repeat percentage.

Home advisor leads are over priced though, for real. But I got 9 in one week.

did amazon for a year. loved them lotta upsell. BUT–they sent me an email-its NO longer available-big bummer. i wonder why… so much work off them. smith doesnt cost much but yet to land a deal.

Egg on my face. My guys showed up to do the job and the homeowner turned them away… because she had over double the amount of windows and started going into the “my neighbor got 100 windows done for $100”. I literally told the lady to call him and sent my guys away. Their day was jacked after that. Messed up job timing, etc. And I probably lost about $100-200 today. Not just because of her though, just a really bad day. LOL.

Yelp, thumbtack, home advisor, etc all need to be 86’D. So please unite and cut them off.
Yelp is a bunch of BS I just had a review and it went straight to not recommended.

Thats just crazy pricing for (residential) window cleaning.

Ive just started using Home Advisor this year. My observations so far is that Home Advisor customers are primarily “price shoppers”. There are some guys in my area on Home Advisor that have extremely low overhead(no truck, no website, very little professional presence) and extremely low prices. I just lost a nice home to one of these guys and his inn/out tracks and screen price was $3 per pane. His overall price was half of what mine was so I can’t really blame the customer for wanting to save $300. It’s a shame to see these guys dilute the market.

amongst the worst ideas ive ever tried for marketing. They sell the leads to multiple vendors so you are often bidding vs 3-5 others most of whom are operating without insurance-taxes,etc, Just awful like someone else posted paying ppc also which is truly wrong.

I just lost one today to some guy doing a complete with 30 Windows and screens for $110!!!

Another exterior I did today for $194 told me the last guy was doing it for $75!!! On this house!!

Totally agree and I told my customer that it’s a shame these guys are doing this to our industry…

For $75?
