Hey Guys, I have always wondered why small business owners don’t wash their own windows? I can understand if they are in a midrise building and/or highrise but for single story stores, if I was a dry cleaner, I would go to Home depot, buy my own squeegee and do my own. It’s like when I go out to eat, I try to eat something I cannot make at home so why should window cleaning be any different?
People go out to eat for many reasons. They may like the experience of being served. They may like the fact that they don’t need to exert any energy in preparing the meal. They may be an ok cook, but they want a truly awesome meal. They may like the change of atmosphere… and so on. The same goes for storefronts
Odd question to ask on a site devoted to window cleaners. What prompts this kind of question?
I think us window cleaning companies should train the store front employees for $x.xx. And get a contract. Supply all the soap, rubber, and new squiigii tools-(sorry used to spelling that way) for $x.xx, every month. Anytime someone gets fired or replaced, the new one will have to be trained. Definitely charging more than 20.
Haha, the thought has crossed my mind before, lol. I think it would really only be cost effective for them if they had a lot of glass to clean. I have thought about properties where they call us in to clean the outsides, but they have housekeeping/Janitors clean the insides. They’re really missing out on the full effect of clean windows. If they had us train their housekeeping staff, they could improve their efficiency, as well as have nicer looking windows
Exactly! We can do maids and store front employees. And jamitors for buildings who say they clean the windows but uses windex.

I do know some car dealerships do their own windows because the cost was so high.
From this guys first posts it has been nothing less than bizarre. Give him a few minutes and he will answer his own questions from this thread.

And u would have fewer clients
We do windows, they do pizza. If they do pizza well, then they will be busy doing pizza when I am busy doing their windows. Nuff said.
Ah! Good point! it’s kind of like why some people hire maids when they can clean their own house. I really need to hire a maid because I am just too busy and lazy to do it myself. But more so than that, I am finding store front owners that realize when they try to get their employees to clean them they never look good. But after I clean them they look pristine and they really like that.
I think it has everything to do with window cleaning because the fact most small business owners are unwilling to pay more than $20 for their store regardless how many windows, I am left to wonder why more store front owners are not doing it themselves.
“They don’t care about them”
With all do respect, you are asking the wrong questions.
Bazinga!
That also makes good sense and well said!
A catchy phrase to accompany your clever pranks. Very nice. I like the urban dictionary.
Seriously???
How long have you been in this business to make that assumption? I have a whole spreadsheet of customers that tells me your wrong, And people do clean there own windows so what.
I have knocked on plenty of doors only to get the same answer over and over again. Howver, I have been experiencing some success by educating them by doing a sample window for free to show them the difference. Yesterday I turned a job that only wanted to pay $20 for a job that simply had too many small windows to make it worth my time to a job that paid $40 by simply but even then pointing out that if she wanted a simple wash that may not get the results she is looking for, then I could do it for 20 but if she wanted a job that was pristine I would expect at least 40
