Why use a backpack for window cleaning?

Thank you!

Ya those are sweet I’m so tempted just to get one, but really don’t need it. To all designers especially the ones that are designing for WFP use. Ummmmm a handle is very useful. What’s so hard about it ???

I think the more gallons you make it the more difficult it will be to get around. There meant to be portable.
9 X 8 = 72 lbs , it’s doable, but a little more weight to tow around

So it looks sweet , but if those wheels mess up your stick wiTh using less water , unless your a bull, or maybe you’ll have to get a cart for it. Either way I like the Gardiner better

Thank you @Majestic66, if it were you doing the mod on it, what would you do to it to make it better from your personal experience?

Maybe 5 I think it’s only 4 gallons but I can do ten windows.

You are correct because the guys in the UK say getting large trolley’s in and out of the truck is a bear. Lots of guys over there prefer barrels of water and a small backpack over onboard unit for residential work as well. Dragging hoses can be a drag. Also almost no set up time with a backpack.

@Majestic66, and @BostonMike, I see what you guys are saying, the reason I’d go that route, is not for me but to maybe hire a helper again to do route work with me all day and just have them do outsides while I do inside, training would be minimal and the problem I always had with employees before was quality control. The system would eliminate a lot of issues I’ve had with helpers before and I would fill big jugs with pure water and store them in van, so they can fill and go as need. Do you guys think it’s a good idea or maybe not?

In the UK its really mixed. You tend to see alot of new people who use the backpack with barrels before upgrading to a van mount system with a 500ltr tank.

Although im not saying fully establised people dont use the backpack, as they actually do. Its easy to manoeuvre and can fit through small spaces.

Sure why not ! Whatever gets the job done. Sounds like a great idea. not in the winter though :joy:

When you do resi he can do the outsides An screens while you do hthe insides.

The only thing I question is time wasted filling up ?

wouldn’t you just fill up when arriving for each job or at the completion of last job

Not sure I agree. Add a bit of isopropyl alcohol to your backpack and it actually cleans better than pure water and doesn’t freeze on the glass. Works fine in the 20s Fahrenheit

Are you talking 30 seconds to fill up enough pure water to clean a house? Or even at storefront?

Thirty seconds to fill a backpack. A backpack can do 10 double hung windows. I wouldn’t use a WFP on storefronts.

PS
At the beginning of a job i place a couple Jerry Cans of pure water in the yard at strategic points to eliminate trips back to the truck to refill.

How many barrels do you need?
