Tried this stuff out on my own panels awhile back. Worked almost as good as scrubbing with a pure water rinse. I will be quoting a large solar panel cleaning contract and want to offer as an option a “detergent” wash with pure water rinse. The winded brand would cost me in the hundreds of dollars if bought retail. And I can’t find any bulk buys anywhere. So… Any guesses on the formula?? Going to try some recipes on my panels and any help would be appreciated.
I know all about solar panel cleaning. It’s 80% of my business. Looking for a " no scrub" recipe for a wash down service. Already know how to do it, just looking mix my own. Thanks though
Wow… Found the msds and researched the chemicals. Basically surfactants, citric acid and jet dry. This should be fun… For anyone who is curious, I’m looking to give a large account owner options not cut corners on proper cleaning. Talking thousands of $$ difference to them but same hourly for me. Trying to keep them happy when ( and if) they cut me a check…

I do many move out cleanings. Windows are definitely not something prop mgrs pay for. For them a simple windex wipe is good. When the outside is bad I use a bit of soap like dawn, ecover, or bioclean mixed with Jet Dry. Brush on and rinse off. Not using my DI water for free. If the sun is not too direct and hot the glass does actually dry with less spots than just tap water alone. I use my auto WF pole brush. Dip in solution scrub and rinse. Goes quick. Helps so the girls cleaning dont have to wast time wiping down the exterior.
If you had the Mr Clean auto wash and dry thing would be great. The mix I tried was warm water 2-3 tbls soap and 1 tbs of jet dry per gallon. Adjust if needed. Try to use the citric acid one. Citric acid helps remove spots, it is a water softener. I sometimes use the powdered citric acid and 9% vinegar if there are a lot of spots on glass. The acids work well on light spotting. Even a light detergent and vinegar works well. If rinsing with pure water even better. The key is to get it on and rinse before the solution dries. Maybe apply with a sprayer. These work better if scrubbed but might work well if the panels are cleaned regularly not like a first time clean, then scrub. I’m not one to but $50 cleaners and find out simple soap and vinegar works just as well. I clean homes and when calculate how much I saved by using denatured alcohol, vinegar to clean with. We are saving a lot and the surfaces are getting cleaned. If you find out a good recipe let us know. You are up there a lot so be our “eyes on the glass”
The Glass Gleam Solar sounds pretty cool. Highly concentrated so it may do a lot of glass. Try the other stuff when you have time. Might be better to use this stuff anyway.
