Just wondering if anyone has any secret cleaning solutions to help keep the exterior windows cleaner longer? I recently cleaned a big house and the next day a nasty storm blew through and now the exterior windows are all spotty and dirty again. Any suggestions? I normally use either Dawn or Palmolive dish soap in my water. Is there anything better out there that will keep the exteriors shining longer? Thanks!
Use the search there are countless threads on soap.

This subject has been beat to death with much contention in the past. I use equal parts GG4 and Ecover, 1/4 oz per gallon.
Hi, by the way.
ALL detergents leave sticky films over them.
Only way to prevent this is to rinse with pure water removing all detergent to leave the window ‘sterile’
The beauty of water fed pole window cleaning right there (but then, it takes longer for customers to call to have them cleaned again - and that sucks!)
If you did your regular cleaning like you should have (I’m sure you did!) it was no fault of yours regardless of your solution. It was mother nature’s fault. Windows don’t stay clean forever. Your solution didn’t throw dirt on the clean windows.
Tell them you will come back and do the outs again for a discount. You did a great job cleaning them the first time. This was an act of nature, not you, unless you gave them a rain guarantee.
Use a rain x product that allows you to mix it in wash it on let it dry and wash again with the same product then squeegee off make sure you charge double for this service as you have to clean each window twice to let it dry on. that is the only way to get it to apply, otherwise there are rain x products that have to be buffed in and buffed off the glass which takes forever and is not worth it I wouldn’t think unless there are some serious hard water issues and you need to protect the glass.
As far as soaps are concerned none better than GG4. <‘Period’
Rain x is a bad idea! It is designed for use at highway speeds, not sitting still windows. Have fun with future cleans on the rainxed glass…
Just saw your post, There could be many reasons way the windows spotted, Did the screens get brush or were they washed, did you clean the frames and the sill around the window are their large tree’s by the windows or close to the home? There is so many reasons a window spot’s. when you go back to do the touch up check for these reasons so you can notice of them in the future.
The bottom line is that you must go back do the touch up so you have another happy and satisfied customer…Think Long Term. There is no magical soap that will stop a window from spotting if the screens aren’t clean,or the frames are dirty, or there’s a tree close to the home. Trees are big collectors of dirt, pollen ect. hope this helps.
I use a rain x product that is designed to be washed in not buffed in and it cleans just fine and keeps the hard water from seeping into his windows from his sprinklers tbh
