Window Cleaning Steps

Good news for me it looks like I have my first residential job in two weeks. I have been cleaning on and off for years, but up to this point it has been commercial only. I feel comfortable that I can do a really good job, but I am trying to plan my process so I can be effective and streamlined on the inside and out. My background is as a framing contractor, when I ran framing crews I was always trying to save steps any where I could and not waste time. So I am wondering what is your process for cleaning the average window. Full clean, tracks, sills, window etc. What steps do you do, inside and outside to save trips on the ladder, or through the house, so you are as efficient as possible with each window. Which order do you find the best to do things? I would love to hear some suggestions to help me get going. Thanks for the feedback.

Congrats on getting the job. I really like residential, especially when the homeowner is not home. I can really get in a groove, and crank my music if I feel like it. It will probably take you a few ‘Resi’ jobs before you find a method that works well for you. But you can get a head start by searching for threads about ‘work flow’. There’s been a lot of conversations on it. Here’s a thread that was pretty good, as I recall:

I also started a thread the other night; has some basic tricks that I use to speed things up:

Thanks, I did see your thread on the 5 hour job, good info there. Thanks for the search results, I couldn’t figure out how to phrase what I was asking in the search box. Thanks

Congrats let us know how it goes…

Thanks I will, I have been working for my friend who is a window cleaner, he has been very helpful getting me started and giving me some good advice. On Friday I was out cleaning his accounts and was asked to do two more residential jobs and a commercial account by people that were passing by, I passed these on to him and he gave me the residential jobs and said he only wanted the commercial. Awesome to have such good friends.

Congrats, you have gotten your first residential job. For cleaning purpose you already had a window cleaning kit. That will be defiantly helps for you. As sometimes there are any screens on the windows that also need cleaning. So by using an automatic screen cleaner you can accomplish the task. I had called cleaning service provider last Monday when I shifted to my new home. Really Clean Service providers do a better job.

What?
