Window Genie

Anyone really know anything about Window Genie as a franchise? Do they have any better (or worse) of a reputation than FISH? I noticed a silly purple van with lightning bolts and a genie driving down the highway a few weeks ago. I did some online stalking and found out they opened a franchise location here back in October. From checking out their local Facebook page, the owner does all the cleaning himself. Not sure why you’d invest nearly $100k just to be a glorified window cleaner, but to each their own. Anytime they post new pics or videos of themselves working in the field, they’re always cleaning the same locally owned restaurant which tells me they haven’t picked up much business in the few months they’ve been in operation.

I looked them up about 6 months ago as one of our customers said they used to use them… Not sure why you’d invest in a franchise in our business period. With the forum, and good software out there, it eliminates a lot of the problems

lots of owner/operators. Extremely low prices. Spend lots of money on Valpak advertising and the like. Good quality work.

There’s 3 here, and Ive never seen them

from what i’ve heard, the feedback from franchisees is largely positive. much better than from fish franchisees. the founder is/was also and emyth coach. the franchise is based around the principles of emyth.

seems like a very strong model if you want to invest in a ready-made business. there’s one in my area, but we rarely cross paths. not a heavy-hitter in my market by any means. (although neither am I :))

I had a customer last month you had them do an estimate said it was real confusing

If anyone is interested, I’ve got a whole list of questions that you should ask the franchisees before spending money on a franchise. I’m not anti-franchise per se, but I’ve seen enough people burned that you’d better be very informed before writing that check. Seriously, call every franchisee in the FDD.

One of the big ones is: can you expect to take any money home in the first 12 months? You’ve just invested 80-100k, how long do you think it’ll take to recoup that initial investment? Do you know of any unhappy franchisees, or have you had any friends leave the franchise? (get those phone numbers)

If someone buys a window cleaning franchise and they have to be out cleaning windows… I seriously wonder if they’re going to make it. If the only way you can expect to take home money is to strap on the belt and clean, you just bought yourself a job and your franchise is your boss. And your boss doesn’t have to pay you minimum wage like you have to for your employees.

Window Genie might be a better value than Fish because they also include window tinting and power washing as part of their core business. The diversity gives you a couple more income streams for the same investment.
