How do I register my company as women owned?
you cant
How do you know?
Check with Women’s Business Enterprises National Council: http://www.wbenc.org/Default.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1
Why register it woman owned? Nobody checks how a company is registered anyway.
If you are trying to use the woman owned as a marketing ploy put it in your ads.
trying to use that as some kind of advantage?

If you are going for goverment work a single woman sole proprieter Co. is almost sure to get the bid. at least here. We do work out at the airforce base and they check everything. A woman owned biz is normally the first thing they look for even before price. IMO

That’s correct. As far as I know it’s not possible to register a business as a “Woman Owned” business other then government work. That’s done at the CCR. I once was told a story while in the government about some company that was owned by some rich dudes. One of them was married to an eskmo woman and he put her down as owner. They landed every government contract because of it. She was labled as a minority, woman and native indian. Not sure if it’s a true story but I would not doubt it from the crap I have seen in the government.

Let me just say my company is under my wifes name and we do a ton of work for the goverment and we are not the cheapest in town.
The TV show?
There are advantages in being a female owned company…When I put in a bid for a govt job one of the 1st questions the man asked was if I owned at least 51% of the company…told him i owned all…I dont know how my bid stacked up against my competition, but I got the job:) I honestly didnt realize I was a minority contractor…There are other advantages too, some people -especially women customers -prefer a womans cleaning(no offense guys-dont want to step on any toes…) to a mans…but also disadvantages…if Im on a construction site giving a bid, the men there usually assume im not the boss because I am the woman and I think some men dont think that im capable of doing what a man does until they see me on a roof or 30’ in the air on a ladder… I had a man ask me once as i was cleaning a local store front, “what do you do when you have to clean something high?” asssuming i guess that i didnt do anything above ground level…“I climb a ladder” I said, with a smile:)
you go get em wndwgrl!!!

I saw a cleaners wife walk up a 40 like it was no ones business. Guys are easy to win over, your in a game that they play in since little boys. So just do the same thing they do. Getting on a ladder is a big deal and any man who won’t respect you for running one is a dope. I hate manhandling one, and if I don’t have to I won’t. Good for you.
