Here is our typical work truck. We used to run with 32’ ladders on our trucks but with fuel prices as they are we don’t any longer. Most of our trucks run mostly commercial route work so we add WFP and reels as needed. We have been really happy with the Prerunner for an all round work horse.
Very nice. So is that a 24ft on top? What ladder rack do you have and is it mounted to the frame?
I have a 4dr. 4x4 and was curious at how big a deal it is (or expensive) to mount a rack like that on our trucks (the extra support etc.).
Maybe you could post it in the member rig sticky with some close-up or bigger pics as well.
I own a 2007 Prerunner and I’ve been happy. However, I must warn all here this model/ year has no steel in the cap rail. This is where the rack connects/ sits on top of the truck. Zero steel means no vertical lag bolts can be fixed to connect the rack to the cap rail. Two front corners needed to be connected via a pipe to the hull. The rear two corners needed to be connected to the inner sides of the truck. Note circle in photo.
Yeah, I was aware of the bed rail issue. As far as the front mounts go do they go through the bed and mount underneath it?
I had an 06 Taco 4x4(New England winters) for 6 years and it owed me nothing. An awesome vehicle. I just traded it in yesterday for my new 2012 Tundra limited. It’s a great ride. Put my bars and racks on it today with the lift and wheels being installed Thursday. Wrap goes on 1st week of August. Gonna look so bad azz cool and even better than the Taco
We put the cargo master rack. On the larger F250 and smaller tacomas the system one rack is hands down the better rack. We didn’t have to do anything with the bed rails, the installer had a certain type of part that overcame the bed issue. Yes, that is a 24’ ladder on the rack.
Buddyo what type of rack do you have? We are having the system one rail tool boxes put on for the f250. They are extremely nice, heavy duty, diamond plate and pricey.
I have the Thule xporter. Great feature is that it not only fit my Taco but also the Tundra. Just had to order diff clamps for $45. They have served me well and look great. Will be placing side mount bed boxes in between the racks with a drawer system in the bed.
I strap 5 ladders to my 1990 honda civic wagon …one of them being a 32" for my last commercial gig works great everytime
it gets great gas mileage as well
Thanks
Thanks, the diagram helps a lot.
Having 4x4 where I am in Reno (5,000ft. elev.) is pretty handy as well. Your Tacoma was really nice. I can’t wait to see pics of your new truck.
Thanks
Love Toyotas… Great window cleaning truck.
Try harbor freight tools for ladder racks.
