World of windows? whats your world like

here in southern England, my residential and commercial windows are all U- pvc frames,(white plastic ) with double-glazed sealed windows, (to keep heat in) , occasionally i see triple glazed windows (to keep the road traffic noise out ).Only old houses have single glazed windows here, these often have wooden frames .There are never any sun screens or insect screens. Its rare for anybody to ask for a window cleaner to clean the inside of their windows, but i have occasionally done this for elderly people .

Here on the east coast of Australia theres screens on just about every third window, and regular in + out jobs everywhere, including storefront and commercial. For resi mostly single glaze sliders, double hungs and double/triple sliding doors.

In Ohio we have some homes with storm windows, which is 4 panes of glass per window that has to be taken apart to be cleaned…:(not fun, but i usually price those 4x higher than reg windows. Other homes have the usual double pane double hung or casements. We do alot of ins and outs too.

If they make the window, odds are we have them here. I have yet to come across any sunscreens, but storm windows galore!

That is about the way it is here. We even get some morons that will make their own storms and install a single hung over a single hung. Tons of boo boo’s like that.

I thought those guys never left Iowa?!

That sounds like a box storm, of which I’ve seen many. We have a few houses with all box storms. Just did a house yesterday with 9 pane over 6 pane double hungs with storms. Thankfully all the sashes are in good working order. The absolute worst are 30 year old friction storms.

I just did a house yesterday and the walls and floor were all dried mud. Regular construction but they used 2 inches of mud for the floor and walls. I took a pic but it didn’t come out well on the camera phone. The thing that strikes me is that they have pella windows. pellas and mud wall/floors???

I also like the “I have thermal windows and to get more out of them I screwed plexi glass to the inside and out side of the window and then caulked them all shut with silicone”.
