So I was scrolling though torrent sites and noticed this title so I thought I’d have a look,
3 young brits go to Canada and become window cleaners for 3 weeks.
I was very very surprised to see how it is done in Canada, I assume its the same though out the US.
The biggest surprise was the harness that are used, In Australia we would not be allowed to do rope work in a harness you would use for lift work or for swing stage work, however If you use a harness like this
you can use it in all situations safely.
On this TV show they were using 3 ropes 2 went thru some kind of friction descend device maybe some kind of enclosed rack type descend device. If the ropes were not held or hooked off, the person on the bosuns chair would descend. The law here is the use of a stop descender for obvious reasons.
The 3rd rope seemed to be not a rated kernmantle rope but rather an older type nylon rope. The only part of the rig they were attached to was the older style rope via a shock absorbing lanyard attached at their back D shackle( which was the only shackle on the harness). and just sat in the chair(the chair was home made from steel rope, at the shackle point at FACE level was 2 great big bolts, not the bolt head but the threaded tail, which protruded towards the face by about 1 1/2").
I have seen some other vids and a few pics on fb of similar rigs, is this the norm?
I see so many potentials for failure.
