Not better or worse…
We all have different markets, that’s all.
I’d liken it to housing cost, only opposite.
Yes, very shocking and it is through a locally owned maintenance company, the guy knew nothing about window cleaning. I’m curious as to what happened with the other company. I’m sure he didn’t shop around because there are commercial only guys who would probably do it for $24.50.
The reason why is you’re competing with national companies that have a 5% profit margin but have thousands of those stores. They subcontract out to window cleaners who usually show up with a pressure washer running through a DI and blow the hell out of it. I do a lot of Rite Aids and I do about $75 inside and out. They don"t expect A + work.
That is if you get paid at all. They will stall you out, you will quit and they will find another fool to clean the windows for free. I won’t invoice and wait to get paid for 28 bucks. Credit costs money
^ that’s a really good point. A carpet cleaner friend of mine pointed out an interesting fact about why he feels some commercial customers delay payment as long as possible: inflation + the interest earned on that money in their accounts. Delaying payment for every one of their vendors means they’re effectively getting away with paying less, because the money no longer has as much buying power, and they’ve managed to earn the interest that should have been yours had they paid you right away. They’re essentially making every one of their vendors a de facto creditor, and actually charging them to do it.
I
f you do in and out in that hour.
