Your ad doesn’t look like an ad?

Who said it needs to? Answer: Nobody. David Ogilvy built his ad agency on this core truth of advertising. While everyone else was making and designing ads that looked like ads, David was designing ads that made people read. That sucked people in. That were impossible to ignore. Always compelling and thought provoking Kevin

I see a tangible status symbol product that is easily seen and recognized by others, wherever the owner may go, in that ad

status things that go where the owner goes, simple simple to apply so much “marketing stuff” to
experiences that make someone feel good inside, simple simple to apply so much “marketing stuff” to

now let’s translate that to window cleaning that doesn’t go where the owner goes and the experience isn’t the focus or the reason for havingit done but rather the result

perhaps I am saying from my perception, I have not seen an earth shattering ad for window cleaning to model after and learn from (that has also been wildly successful) . . . yet

are there other task oriented result is the reason why type services out there that have some over the top wildly successful ad? Any other service industry of any kind?

(this post probably wasn’t clear enough in what I meant, in a hurry gotta go)

Thanks Joe.

I think this is a lesson in composition, Bruce, nothing more.

Ads look like ads, and as a result, get skipped and ignored.

That being said, I have recently developed a flier design for my new company that is along these lines, design-wise. As you said, we’ll have to see how well it works.

yes, it is uncharted waters, be the first and hey, you’ll be an “only” !

I suppose it’s along the lines of a J Peterman catalog descriptive ad that only mentions the product in 3 lines of a 100 line story.

Tough stuff, at least J Peterman could draw on warm fuzzy childhood memories for so many of their products

such a dearth to work with for a “task”

can anyone tell I am irritated? lol
been banging my head against a wall for 4 years
I am looking forward to a breakthrough that somebody has got to make eventually! I’m sure Kevin will be the first

I’m working on it, Bruce. Working on it…
