I know a lot of people on this forum don’t go door to door and knock but I’m really wanting to give it a try… problem is I have no I idea what to say. I’m drawing blanks so if anyone would be willing to share so I could rip theirs off that’d be great.
Also, the scenario is no current customers in the area.
I’ve done the D2D work.
Basically, I go to an area that looks like they would need work done and can afford it. I introduce myself, hand them my card, let them know that I clean windows as well as pressure wash and then ask if they would like a free estimate.
It’s a little nerve wracking at first until you get use to it. If no one is home, then I use a door hanger that gives a rough estimate of the work that is needed on the reverse side. On the front is the name of my business, what we do, phone number and email address along with my website.
I’ve done TONS of door to door and built my business off it in the beginning. Here’s a good opener:
“Hi my name’s ________ from ________ window cleaning. Do you have a window cleaner right now?”
This implies that it’s normal to have a window cleaner. 50% of the time it gets them laughing because they say "haha, I’m the window cleaner!"
Then you say: “That’s probably not very fun! I’m sure you would rather be ______________ golfing, fishing, sleeping, etc.”
That breaks the ice. Don’t hand them anything when you show up, they’ll look at that and not you.
Try to look for something to compliment them on or relate to, such as a well cared for garden, nice classic automobile, breed of dog that you own as well, golf clubs,
surfboards, whatever.
Then it’s just a matter of relating how your superior service benefits them.
Its a number game. Find a way to make and print a inexpensive flyer and hand out thousands of them you will get some work and calls.
if at first it does not work just keep it up . Also go to nice areas. Good luck.
