just started out full up an running now… startin to get some small jobs… summer is comin an gettin hot and i have to very large tattoos on my forarms. Do you think i should wear a white t shirt under my work tshirt when i first meet new clients to give an estimate? or do you think my tatts wont really matter? i know people judge… im a clean cut person but i know how some people get when they see tattoos
I think you know the answer already. You basicly said it in the post.
i wear long sleeves all day every work day. i used to wear sweater hoodies at my last job which was outside and i didnt have my tattoos yet. i prefer it, it’s hot but it dont burn my skin
Take it from someone in your state bro. Cover them up. Yeah when we were young things were cool. And hey don’t get me wrong I could careless. Some of the nicest people I know look freaky. Holes in their face and ears, tats on their necks etc. But when it comes to going into someone’s home who don’t know you NO WAY. Cover them up. Let the customer get to know you first. Meaning wear the short sleave shirts next summer. Even in your own mind you question the tat. When you see someone with them you dont know what it means to that person. Where they in jail? Did they kill or hurt someone for their gang etc. If you did not know a guy and he walked into your house with large tats on his arms I bet you would keep your eyes on him. And yes I do have them also, but was smart enough to put them on my back.
ive found the best long-sleeve shirts for this job are what is called a “windshirt”, these are bought mainly by golf people and are featherlight and the cut of the cloth, where the arm meets the body is generous, this allows easy arm movement ,far better than ordinary shirts. they are made of 2 layers of material , the inner differs from the outer . the cuffs and the waist are elasticated which looks cool(my opinion ) and a lot of online golf shops sell them. they can be pricey, but not always .
ive worked like a dog wearing a windshirt and not once felt sweaty ,its something to do with the special material
yea your all right… i was thinking wearing underarmor underneath… an then maybe next year get brave… im actually in law enforcement so when i tell people that it might make them feel more comforable to but for now ill def cover em up
Def let them know you are in law enforcement. It will help. Whenever I get the chance I will let my customers know I did 10 years in the military. It does help, even more so with seniors. It lends some credit to your honesty, even though we both know some of the worste people in this world wear a uniform. Man I know people in the service I would never even let in my home, but the public does not view them that way. They see a uniform and think the person must be a great guy/gal. There is a reason they tell soliders coming back from the sandbox not to press their spouse too hard in what they have been doing with the neighbor across the street. Dam Army is like a cheaters fest as soon as G.I. Joe heads out.
Cover them for sure. Perceptions are everything and we live
in an extremely judgmental society.
Covered arms will equal more money
Cover them.
I have 2 half sleeves and for estimates I always wear a button up long sleeve shirt.
If you question yourself about it, chances you’re right
I have a few tats. One that is not the nicest of tattoos. If you can stand keeping it covered for the initial meeting great. I don’t think I have ever lost a job or heard a negative comment because of my tats. If I catch a customer staring at my big ugly tat I address it, usually the young and stupid routine yada yada
To me and my high end clientele it isn’t a big deal.
The only place I DONT have tattoos are from my neck up and my arms, legs are sleeved and whole back is pretty much covered. I dont care if its 125 outside, I dont show NOTHING. To me it says unprofessional, but thats how I run MY show. When I hire people I make sure if they got tacks that they cover them up too. If its on the neck or face or hands, I laugh and tell em no thanx.
haha lol. yea i def think imma keep them coverd for the intial meets an after i seal the deal i think itll be ok or at least the 2nd time i show up somewhere
Go back in time and when you’re about to enter the tattoo shop, go get a cup of coffee instead
Really, I’d love to have a few tats but right now I cannot afford to get myself out of the system, and people will judge you, not even giving you a chance yo probe them wrong. This is where we live and like it or not, it is, what it is (ain’t that clear?)
I saw a show the other night where as this jail house morons tattooed their eye balls. I’m going to do that and see how many jobs I get when I walk to the front door and look like the devil. lol.

Thats nuttin’ ray, I knew an idiot that had his whole stinkin face done, his whole body! It was horrible work, mostly done by people who were practicing on him. We used to call him “Scratch Pad” cuz it looked like a bunch of people just scribbled on him. What the heck do these people think they are gonna do to make a living??? Doomed to be an outlaw or welfare I guess. No way he is getting a job at a local bank or car dealership.
Look around when you’re working until you see a guy/woman in their 70’s with tats showing … then see yourself on that stretched, flaccid (sp) skin suit and make a decision
The 2nd guy, with the “blue” eyes is serving 73 so he ain’t gonna scare anybody lol
I have uncovered tats and run a good show. I think its up to you
In my NEW employ handbook i wrote ( for when ever i get another employee!! )
it states
"ALL offensive or gang related tattooes MUST be covered at ALL times. . PERIOD !!!
When selling/ marketing for the company, ALL tattooes MUST be covered.
While WORKING (i.e cleaning windows ect.) only the offensive or gang related tattooes
( or those deemed so by the company) will need to be covered"
Just my take on it peace
