You are right, UK still has both traditional and wfp methods being used with safety limits, don’t know about the rest of Europe though.
Code Man…
Pretty much why they are full force in the UK with the WFP work…They still work traditionally and off ladders, but the safety rules helped set them up to go WFP !
But WFP work is high spectrum though, and coming into it the way they did only put them into a great way of cleaning windows ! WFP work doesn’t work on 100% of glass, but it does work on a a lot, and it cuts the time down from 1/4 to almost 1/2 and so you’ll double your money, and it don’t just double your money but when well trained you can preform quality work !
Now we’re both in the Seattle area and cluing you in only promotes competition but I have no worries to that because I’m square and like to share and the Seattle area is slow on the WFP segment !
Remember you ask me about me walking up and teasing guys not WFPing the City Centre Building, them for doing it with a hose to rinse and a strip washer, and not with a WFP…I think I remember you up there, but you were not doing the brush and hose work !
If I’m not mistaken the old company that did it (United) use to walk the street roof panels and scrub and squeegee them and the second/third floor they chaired, well that all could of been WFPed and today ABM (who you worked for) is doing it with a scrub brush and a hose instead of the WFP, and the WFP would make it go faster and with less man power ! More Money and better quality !
Here’s that building I saw them on …The 2 level above the street is what the last company chaired and now ABM is flushing with just a hose and a strip washer ! Panel above the street plus they washed the windows over the door way as you see in the pictures (Klunky)…

P.S,. How do you like working wit dem Kilts ? Chair work wit de Kilts ?
no way you clean perfect with WFP-this type of windows!double hung window 6over6 or 12over12 french panes, half screen and 2 storm windows
Yo danger! Yup that was me up there haha I had recently moved outside from interior work I remember sitting there thinking (as I’m getting rained on by my lead rinsing the windows above me) why didn’t we bring the tucker pole? Guess you were thinking the same thing
As long as it’s not too windy I don’t mind the kilt at all. As for chair, it’s the only training I’m missing and we don’t offer that (yet) in seattle …someday perhaps.
I’ve seen some of your videos around the site some informative stuff and entertaining hah, I bet I could learn alot from a ride along with you! See you around town.
I think Phil @ Simpole has a setup for that already.
I would like to check that out, going to take a look for it on WCR.

I totally agree with rivetOr. As a 25 year veteran of high-end residential window cleaning I see the usefulness of a WFP as minimal. Their are
a few windows on some houses I wish I had one, but… then I think about the variable costs. How long will it take to get the WFP out and hook it
up and all the hoses. Then I think of the stubborn bug and bird spots, then I think of how much water is going to run down the side of the
house on to the house and windows below, that means I have to rinse the house off and let the water dry before I clean the windows below.
Then I might consider the customer asking me if all that water pressure might cause the seals to go out on her double pane windows.
The thought of all this exhausts me, therefore I have yet to try the WFP and am happy with my $70 per hour.
I do however see the benefit of a WFP for large office buildings, but that’s no fun, just labor.
"True window cleaning is art, not labor".
Cheers
Wow… I can’t believe people are still doubting WFP for residential and actual first time cleans with bird pooh and bug residue. Sorry, but for ten years I razor bladed that stuff off on a ladder, and no more. Because pure water takes it right off now. Why? Pure water easily removes organic material. Does it remove paint or silica? No because it is non organic.
Now compare set up time with wfp to ladder set up and move around the house time. I have worked on and around tall ladders for more than 20 years, so it’s no big deal to set up a ladder. However wfp is a tool that can and should be utilized more often by some and perhaps put aside at times by others. It’s not a magic wand, but it can be used a whole lot more than some here may realize. I really don’t understand why this is even an issue TBH.

Whew! I thought your whole post was a lie, until I read “tbh.” Thanks for putting that at the end to clarify. Also, I believe diamondridge has WordMarked that, so he is probably going to sue you.
I forgot about that! Sorry diamondridge, I’ll retract the last part lol
michaelmole I just can’t believe some of the things I read sometimes. And I thought everything was true on the Internet! Haha

If water fed poles cost the same as squeegie an wands everybody would be saying that its the best tool they have in there arsenal. There are guys out there that i know because of the cost they just dont wanna believe they work. Ive been cleaning windows for 15 years ive mastered the squeegie and laddrers And now im looking foward to mastering the water fed pole. Best thing i bought for my business other than my sectional ladders yur always gonna need yur ladders But the less i use them the better. An i usually have my guy doing all the ladder work now im on the outsides an love every minute of it. John Thanks for answering all my calls Alex Thanks for hooking me up with my new equitment.
Cha Ching, money money money !
Best two things I ever did …
Hey man,
Do me a favor and bottom line the real start up cost to go to a WFP level…was planning on checking it out if i got one certain job, but just found out i didn’t get it. But what are we talking? $3000.00?
Depends how high you need to go. You could feasibly get rolling for a couple grand… maybe less if you really tried.
I started with an EZ pure and a 27’ pole at about $2k.
But then the switching around/modifying started.
I realized that… a 35’ pole can weigh less than a 27’, air hose is easier than garden, quick connects rule, inline TDS meters are awesome, etc…
Do me a favor and fill in your signature so I know who I am helping, and I’ll be happy to give you the good news.
I found a deal on a used Gardiner 27 ft pole and an ionic pure water system. It’s not what I ultimately want but it works great. Now the customizing starts. I will change out the pure water system for a reach it system in a couple months. I have been able to make more money and work by myself safer than ever before.
I have a part time employee but I have used him less now that I can get more work done in less time. Means more profit. My part timer only wants 2 days a week anyway so I’m happier and more profitable.
Yesterday I used my Starbucks app on my smart phone as well as a 60’ boom lift and my wfp so does that mean I’m an astronaut?
My WFP saved me the last two days. I got a call for a last minute office building (at the dump ironically) where VIPs were coming in the next day. I worked late that night and early the next morning and got it done. The customer was very pleased. Could never have done it with ladders!
