I do some invoicing out of Quick Books and some out of NCR invoice booklets to use in the field, mostly for storefront work. I am re-designing my hand-written invoices and I would appreciate seeing what any of you are using. If you would post a photo of your invoice book I would be grateful.
I recommend migrating to Quickbooks Online! Besides being totally mobile, the Online version always has the most current updates and goodies.
There are a number of template styles to choose from and you can put your own logo on it.
Mine is pretty simple, I need to resize my logo,
but there are some fancier ones available
I still use QuickBooks when submitting invoices to my commercial clients. I designed this one using Apple’s numbers app, and then had a local printer make me up 250 carbonless copy invoices.

Do you really need to breakdown every window in such detail? Some of our order slips just say windows with a total. Most of the time it is in/out vs outside only and the number of floors.
Does a mechanic give you a list of every nut and bolt he changed on your car?
These are what I use for a quick new Store Front customer , or Ya know Someone that just grabs me , an says hey can you do mine . "Ya sure 2 plates , an a door $80 ". Jk. I wish
I’m going to re-do them because I have a new logo , an website that my boy Nathaniel is building for me. Almost done it’s coming out great just need to find a way to get it on the first page.
So I’m glad you started this I don’t think your looking for a QB invoice correct

That’s a small house BTW. Lots a fence though.

I had a few customers not remember what we had agreed to.
Last fall I had a client when I came to give an estimate was high on pot(legal here in Colorado). We did a walk through. I explained that we would not be able to do the upstairs windows; due to the storms painted shut. Also, this was in an older part of town so the house were 6 feet apart. When I came and did the job; she forgot what I had mentioned. She said I did a great job, but was disappointed that I didn’t do the upstairs. I explained to her about what I said at walked through; she then said “oh you should have a detailed estimate and invoice slip.”
So not wanting to go through that again; I did just so and also included a disclaimer at the bottom.

I gotta say, that’s a little bizarre. Alcohol is legal here, but I’ve never done a quote where the customer was half in the bag during the walkthrough. You’d think people would refrain from recreational substances when they know they’re going to be having someone out to their home.
No, but he doesn’t put “Car Fixed” in the description of charges, either.
This, coming from a guy who is fairly vague for the most part.
but I’m not ready to criticize…
There are times where I get VERY specific. And itemize every single step I’m taking.
Sometimes I even spell out the things I’m NOT going to do. with a friendly "ask about our blah blah service."
If I sense someone who may be expecting me to be some subservient,
“oh yeah, while I’m there, of course I’ll clean your blinds too” type…
