My model might be different from a lot here, because I have cleaners working for me. That said, I don’t work weekends at all. I also try to schedule as little weekend work as possible, and I typically charge extra for any weekend work so my cleaners get paid more. When we’re busy, we might do 2 half Saturdays each month.
My family time is the most important thing for me. I know I’d feel differently if I were at a different point in my life, like 25 and single.
Each of my guys put in 60 hours last week, I was with them but you know how it goes at the end of the day… office work, billing, etc… it’s never quite over. I need at least one day to myself and family.
I promise you one thing. When you’re on your deathbed, you will never say “I wish I worked that sunday” or anything work related. Do yourself a favor and do something for yourself once a week. Something that the guy on the deathbed would’ve wished he’d done

Not sure what you mean by this…
But I can assure you, although I keep a distance from myself and any internet detective customers…
I am flat open and straight with the members of this forum.
I DO care what they think (although I don’t care if they like me or not)
-in the sense that I don’t want to be full of shit to those I may give advice to.
Or be known as someone who has ever shafted anyone in any dealings in any sense.
I may say alot of stupid things, but they are MY stupid things and they are not censored to make myself look better.
In fact, those who know this, are the most endearing to me, and me to them…
Because if nothing else, we kind of got to know each other.
Therefore I sure as shit am NOT the type to go ‘private message’ and trash someone.
While being cute and nice in ‘public.’
IF you are NOT suggesting this, then I apologize, and please forgive my misunderstanding.
If YOU ARE suggesting this… go fuck yourself.
Honestly, I REALLY hope I’m begging for your forgiveness for this misunderstanding, on my part.
You KNOW I just started with the Ipad over the summer, but I’ll accept the ball bustin none the less.
(for those who don’t know…my stupid Icons keep changing!:o)
Incidentally, I kind of like Gandolf.
“Puff, Puff, Pass.”
Since we’re off topic as it is, and owning a business requiring a lot of work and hours is a given… If you look at Western Reserve WC’s Ford Transit, I can’t help but to see that the rear end is floating off the ground like it’s doing an endo. Am I the only one that sees this?
i don’t like working or money enough to work seven days a week. sounds like a real drag!
we don’t really even schedule work on weekends. probably should, i guess. i’ve been considering changing up the schedule so that every tech works one saturday a month, on rotation, so that every saturday we have a couple of tech in the field. maybe they work a saturday and then get the following monday off or something. anybody else ever try anything like that?
Long story, short… yes.
Which is often times the reason I end up working 7 days.
I’m not griping, but I’m betting you will be involved somehow.
Meaning, yeah, others have days off, but you are still involved.
Guy 1 is off- guys 2, 3, 4 are on- your working
Guy 2 is off- guys 1, 3, 4 are working- your working
Yes, I have given empowerment, but it’s still in my mind, so I’m still technically involved.
Which means I’m concerned, which leads to me ‘checking things out’ at minimum.
That’s my plan next year. Saturdays are important to people. Buy at the same time lots of customers are only home on Saturday. So I want to meet my employees wants as well as my customers by having a rotating schedule. Saw lots of good employees quit the last jon I worked for the sole reason of mandatory Saturdays

I live in CO, where ‘weed stores’ are as common as liquor stores. I’m just eating a chicken pot pie, but it seems people get so psyched about the ganj here.
Back on topic, I’ve been taking weekends off here and there, but I feel I need to keep trucking even through the weekend. I worked from dark to dark yesterday… now I have a cold. Maybe there’s a fine line.
Hell no I wouldn’t work 7 days a week. If I absolutely HAD to in order to support my family for whatever reason, I would, but only in extreme circumstances.
I need those weekends to spend time with my family and get some down time. Why own a business if you can’t have any time to do what you enjoy and spend time with friends and family?
Why start a business if you feel like you need to be a slave to it?
Usually in April-July we work 1 Saturday a month, rarely 2, but I found that when the employees work a saturday, they lag the next week, or Ill get a call-in. I’m just a firm believer that people need personal time.
That being said, if you enjoy working that much, and it doesnt wear you out physically or mentally, more power to ya.
I catch a cold from time to time. I need to eat more fruits and veggies likely… Not bed-sick, but have head congestion. I work with kids some evenings too, and they’re always sick this time of year.
