Best Window Cleaning solution period

We just changed our mix ratio to 1 oz GG4 and 1 oz Ecover to 5 gallons of pre-mixed water for squirt bottles and we love it. We also add a little slip to the squirt bottles for better spread on the glass. This is mostly for interior work. About 90-95 % of our exterior work is DI.

Hey bud, just read the post. NPR, I’m in heaven. Got some Slayer channel I ain’t using and was going to toss. Also some rubber you can have. Don’t need no coin, what size you need, I’ll make you something up.

Anyway I would like to challenge any of you who have not tried glass gleam 4 with hard water to give it a try I’ve used it with a TDS of around 8-900 out in the Desert in the direct sunlight in 100 degree weather and it works amazingly.

I really do think that the local atmospheric conditions as well as the type of pollutants in the air and rain make a big difference with regards to window cleaning solution. Really hot dry weather is the hardest for me to clean in. Humid heat is just a lot easier to get results for me - sure you sweat like a pig but at least the glass stays wet.

I think some window cleaners are using a stronger solution (i.e. TSP) in areas where there is a lot of fabrication debris problems. If it’s unsafe to razor the glass at least you can get a lot of the small specks you’d normally have to razor off with a little stronger solution.

I would rather use a little TSP than use bronze wool or a razor and scratch the windows up. If you use a stronger solution, small paint specks will loosen and come off after 1 or a few cleanings. I tell customers with little specks of overspray (minor stuff, very fine specks) that their windows will look better each time I clean them - that their windows will actually improve over time if they let me take over the maintenance.

It’s easy to bash someone using a certain solution, but there are so many variables and different circumstances that I think there is no ā€œperfect solution.ā€ I wouldn’t recommend what I use in humid Cape Cod to someone in Arizona.

Use whatever works. Play the field. Don’t marry the first workable window cleaning solution.

Is that Dylan?

May be. Could be Dylan Thomas, depends what you’re smokin’.

I was leaning Rap (with a silent C), but I wouldn’t say it was dead googly eyed Welsh poet material, unless you added sheep in to the mix.

Sheep? There are sheep here some where? What about a pony? A Welsh pony, or a stoned pony?

Fill ya boots

That’s why they wear those boots, when you slip the sheeps back legs into the boots they can’t get away.

This space for rent!

Oh dear, I’m getting a little breathless with that thought.

Im lost now, Why The Heck is my gg4 hazing up in the sunlight it used to happen with gg3 and now 4 I had to use dawn dish soap to stop the hazing. Was it the type of glass because it doesnt always do it. Anybody else have this happen?

Is your water dirty?

Are you measuring off or just splashing a blob from the jug?
At first try I also had hazing (real hot day) even with using pure water. I think I was using too much. GG4 isnt very slippery or sudsy even if you use more. I measure off 1oz for 3 gallons with a good squirt of Ecover for suds and slip. I think GG3 is even more concentrated.

Gg4 you need to follow the mixing directions to a tee or you can have problems.

I have the gg4 measuring bottles and i use 1 oz per 3 gallons and it was hazing way bad

It was brand new pretty much

prob the glass. we did a job today using our standard mix and it was really hard to eliminate streaks. eagle windows with sticky glazing. we had to buff and spot-check for what seemed like hours to get them looking good, and i still left the job less than satisfied with the outcome. some glass is just gnarly, doesn’t matter what’s in your juice.

Windex and some Brawny paper towels. Triple ply.

Not too mention the detail you see with the dilated pupils :stuck_out_tongue:
