Breaking my cherry, high rise guys, got a question

Well fellas, I am gonna be doing my first high rise in a couple weeks, doing about 35 drops in a bosun chair, and about 16 in a 30’ swing stage. Its a small building and perfect to get me and my guys alittle experience under my belt. Now this is a great oportunity to get in with the big players, but still, its gonna take a while to know what I am doing.
I am lucky I have a guy working for me that has done high rise for many years…this job was subbed out to me by another window cleaning company, a friend of mine. He just sent me the opos, does anyone know how to print it out at home on a regular printer, or do I have to get it printed out at a print shop?

nobody? Got 30 people looking and nobody huh…come on fellas how do I print this sucker out? I tried doing it with 8 different sheets, it dont look right, and I did it on just one, cant read it…
any ideas, or do I gotta go to a printer?

Maybe everyone is grossed out by your title. I’ll look into the opus deal.

Huh? Really?? Okay, sorry, didnt mean to offend, I will try to change it.

Don’t feel too bad. I laughed at your title and probably would’ve posted something equally inappropriate…

I really wasnt trying to be, tell ya the truth, I didnt even think about it. Guess I better learn to think before I speak.

Dude Tory thats legit, when is it? make sure to take pics for your website (I bet you already thought of that though)
I might be able to take some for you depending on what day it is, I have nice DSLR with a telephoto lens… if you want, let me know.

Talk about a foot in the door though, was that from Darcy’s?

I’m Stoked for you man, I know you’ve been wanting to do high rise for a while.

Oh and I didn’t actually even know what opos was, but I googled it, and looks like you need a special printer.

Doug, I had no idea either. This is a whole new world almost. If you want in on it let me know, its not that difficult really…its not very high either, like 6 stories. Only reason why we gotta do drops is because of the trolley station next to it (power lines) and of course, to pole it, I would be halfway in the street.
I think I will take you up on the photos man, thanks. It was supposed to start on Moday, but has been postponed. The job will take 2 weeks, and the bosun chair drops have to be from midnight to 5am!!! So, that workweek is gonna be messed up. I got the opos, and I tell ya doug, highrise is the lick man! Big money in that game bro, keeps em busy, and its a really small club. There are only 14 players here in SD, and 3 of them already got lousy reps. Olympique, Lilys (really not in it),and Elite Building Maintenance. I have a long way to go to know my stuff, but it is doable. Hit me back if you want in.

Same here. I spend a lot of time with my foot in my mouth.

Really I was joking to be honest. Although, I haven’t heard that saying since highschool. I had never heard of an OPUS so I looked it up and I still don’t know. I do quite a bit of high-rise so feel free to ask me anything and I would be glad to help. Except the OPUS, no idea what it is!

Operating Procedures Outline Sheet. It looks like a blueprint, on the same size paper too. I have it attached so you can check it out. I dont know if I should have done that, but its gotta be public record. Its got everything and specifically for the window cleaner. Check it out…

I’ll chech it out tomorrow when I get home. In Chicago in hotel writing on my iPhone. Now I know!

I’m there man, let me know when and where, just call or shoot me a text.

We’ll have to figure out how to get the pictures looking good shooting in the middle of the night, but we will.

Guys, Tory’s let me work with him a few times and he’s the real deal.

My Car was stolen about 6 months back, and I was hurting for cash bad. Tory had me working with him the next day, paid me well, and was a blast to work with.

+1 for Elite Window Washing

Tory to me it looks like a maintenance manual. pretty much its a step by step on how to descend on that building and what the recommended procedure is. this is standard for OSHA. when i used to work on aircraft we had similar manuals we had to follow

and ps you should be able to go to kinkos to have that printed

Thanks Mark. Thanks Doug, you do great work bro, so you deserve top dollar anyway. We can do the photos durring the day for the swing stage drops, that would be easy. The night drops, with the bosuns chair, its best not to get photos of…I will explain why later on the phone. This is gonna be a blast man. The money for this job aint so good, but I want to get in the game so bad, as long as I am not paying to do it, I’m in.

You started today right? How did it go? I wanted to come, but business calls

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) I’m busy the whole rest of the week now to
so I most likely won’t be able to come down.
Take/post some pictures, though. I wanna see

I see how it is, fair weather friend…
Just messing with you. IT WAS HORRIBLE!!!
Man, to start off with we were under budget. I had 2345.00 to play with for 2 weeks. Thats 2 guys and me, plus the swing stage rental (400.00). I would have made 50.00 total, for the entire 2 weeks. So, I was happy to get the boys to work, and looked at it as a training job for me.
Problem is, after the hour and half set up time for the davits and booms, putting the stage together etc…we started up to the top, and I have been in 60 foot boom lifts before, and I have no problem with it at all.
But I aint getting in that swing stage ever again!!! Well, okay, I might, but I was SOOO slow it was like I just picked up a squeegee and cleaned my first window. My tech was doing 3 times the work I was.

Not to mention, the insane building manager…the reason why I was subbed to do this was because the lady changed the game plan after it was started 2 months ago by this guy, she wanted the ENTIRE WALL wiped with a rag!!! No, not the frames, the wall next to the windows!! Of the ENTIRE building.

Anyhow, so our first drop is done, and now I am seeing this is gonna take us ALOT longer than I expected, and I will end up having to PAY money to do this job if I keep holding my guy up by being so slow. There is just not enough money for this to be a training job. So I have my guy call his room mate who does high rise, we go pick him up, come back…and apparently the manager had a fit!! Why, because we left the stage on the sidewalk, barracaded (like we were supposed to!!!). Calls the guy who subbed it to me, and says we were rude to her, and that we are unprofessional!!! We never even spoke to her, not one single time.

WHAT! Now I take that personally, and ask the guy, what did I do? He said, “nothing at all, dont worry about it, she is nuts…pack it up, we are done.”

A blessing maybe. Bad day, yep. Will I do highrise ever again…

OH YEAHbut you wont see me doing it…

Man Elite Building Maintenace does a kick ass job they do the whole bit too
from janitorial on up to the top! Olympique guys are going to be ****ed when they hear you trashing them. And the other well I have never lost a building.

LMAO!!!hahhahhaha!!!
