Was going to sign up to get a business mailbox at the UPS store in my town, but I did some research and found out that one of my competitors already has a mailbox at that store. Would I be in the wrong if I got a mailbox at that store and me and my competitor had almost the same address? Or should I go to another UPS store that is a half hour away and open one there? I don’t want to use my personal address and I know that some places won’t deliver to a P.O. Box. What do you guys think?

I use a PO box an couldn’t careless if my competitor is there.

was exactly the same, except for the last digit, as another window cleaner. I never get his calls so I figure he doesn’t
get mine.

You should be fine… I think theres a few window cleaners who use the same post office as me.
We clean the windows there though

I use to pump Gas at my local 76, But stopped!! Last time I was there a window cleaner was pumping as well! Not to mention right after pumping gas, he even inflated his rear tire!!!
Actually it does matter. Google places sometimes mixes similar addresses and merges business profiles.

It could also hurt u if u r using it as your address on your license. It’s a misdemeanor in some cities to lie about your business address.
Whoa, calm down Debbie Downer. No one said be was using is for a licensing or Google Places issue. A lot of people like to use a PO Box if they’re working out of their home. This keeps the address off websites and other material. It’sstrictly for mailing purposes only.

Some fly by nite companies do use them but so do millions of legit companies. Many people use a p.o. box if they live in an apartment or no one is home to accept packages. I lived in a rural area with mail boxes at the end of the road more than a mile away. The boxes (20-30) were all in one place and constantly got broken into. I quit using the street address and got a P.O. box in town 5 miles away. Bottom line, a P.O. box is legit for many people.
I agree. Like many things, a box can be used in a way that can actually hurt a business instead of help it. Or it could be a great thing if it fills a need.
My guess (only a guess) is the original poster was concerned about google places. To be honest using a PO box for your places page isn’t a good idea anyways. Google is on to those tactics.
