I had put an ad in the newspaper recently for a small chunk of change and nothing happened. I was baffled. “I’m paying money, so I should get results”, I thought. Well, on a whim I decided that I would try craigslist.
I always laughed at craigslist ads before. I thought only bucket bobs put ads on craigslist. However, I just landed 3 jobs right after putting an ad on craigslist a couple of days ago. The customers were great, not “coupon customers” at all.
What I did is just describe who I was and my service, putting in some photobucket pictures, and a link to my website. I didn’t put any prices up or say that I was going to do the job for nothing.
I think that when people see these crazy low-ball prices and no pictures or website or anything, they think that the guys are probably under the table operators. I don’t know. But it worked whatever I did.
Anyone else have any positive experiences with craigslist.
I’ve had about 5 jobs off CL, and you’re right, they weren’t the stereotypical CL customers at all. I’m going to try to be consistent with keeping my ad near the top
Tried Craigslist at beginning of summer for window screening. Have now done over 500 and getting a lot of referrals from those customers. I Love Craigslist!
Jesse, I’ve also gotten good results on Craigslist. I’ve picked up quite a few residential customers with it and they didn’t seem to be looking for a cheap price. Same as you, I did it html with a couple of pictures, a link to my website, etc. It’s free advertising and helps along with everything else.
