DI Resin Cost?

GAC carbon filters can be a pain in the a**. Try using a carbon block filter you don’t get any black fines when you first change them. They also work better with chlorine and they are a 5 mic. sed. filter.

where do you get those?

When I say over all life or longevity of the DI resin I am not talking about the life of a single regeneration of DI resin.

In other words, not using a carbon pre-filter will not cause you to have to regenerate your tank earlier than you would if you did use the carbon pre-filter.

If you do not own your tank and DI resin the extra cost of a pre-carbon filter is advantageous only to the owner of the tank, but at your expense.

If you are using town water it has chlorine in it. Chlorine is mostly made up of sodium, and that is part of your tds. If you remove the sodium your tds will go down and your DI will last longer. More money in your pocket.

This is precisely right. Chlorine will not give you less gallons, only less regens over the life of the resin. Many people think putting a carbon filter before the DI will help b/c they see them on RO/DI systems. They are utilized on RO/DI systems to benefit the RO.

OMG!!! where can I pick one up???
not at like Home Depot or something?

I got mine from a pressure washing company out here in so cal.

the cost of the unit was like $18.00 and the cartridge is like $8.00

It lasts about 2500 gallons.

Mine is only a 10" filter

can you take a quick pic of it?
it attaches to the hose then into the tank?

Over it enough to articulate your thoughts on your statement, “Tucker Poles suck.?”

I will post a pic of it tomorrow for ya…

So you are saying chlorine will not raise your TDS at all and removing it will not lower your TDS. I can tell you if you have water with 0 TDS and add only chlorine it will use up your DI.

Thanks dude!

Being the fond owner…and daily user of a Tucker Pole, I must disagree with them ‘sucking’.

At first, tucker was all we had. In fact, IMHO they blazed the trail many newbies and wannabes ride today.

My tucker has been well looked after and has reciprocated time and again. I have made more money with my 45’ Tucker pole than I care to share.

I agree they might overhaul the design making for a more user friendly version.

I also have used a 52’ Carbon Fiber pole. It is lighter…and faster to assemble…it was also 4 times the cost and much easier to break. Replacement tubes are high…and the windows I cleaned with it were no cleaner than had I used my Tucker.

I am a “For Profit Business” and I understand Profit Margins and Profits. I HIGHLY suggest a Tucker Pole (Yes…I use one…d-a-i-l-y) for anyone who does 1-3 story wfp work.

They do plenty of things…but ‘suck’ is not on that list. My tucker puts me at about $100 an hour often.

Your turn…

You can’t teach an old dog new tricks, Larry.

I wouldn’t say the Tucker Pole sucks, but I do like my 31’ X-Tel much more. It is more rigid and easier to extend because of the simple clamps and shorter sections. I also like the red Vikan brush it came with over the Tucker brush. I thought the Tucker brush was too soft.

I pay just over $100 for a regen. I exchange my rental tank ($50 a month)with no wait time or I can pay $50 for delivery. I do sometimes have it delivered depending on how busy work is. The Culligan dealer is about an hour from me.

Sounds like Southern Cali is the place for more than affordable DI.
