Don’t worry my attorney is working on it.
keep us posted. i would love to see how this comes out.
i don’t get it!!! how you are not covered if u broke something that’s on your way to do your job !
why we all have insurance then if they don’t cover staff like that?
yes, it doesn’t make sense. from what i’ve learned, you are covered for some damage, but not all damage. and it basically comes down to how the damage occurred.
ie. if you bump a window with your ladder and break it you are covered. but if you climb the ladder, clean that same window and scratch it or break it, you are not covered. this is because as soon as you start working on the window it comes under your “care, custody and control” which is probably excluded from your policy. same damage done by the same guy, but done in a different way. covered in one instance and not the other.
absolutely absurd. and it appears the insurance companies keep their agents in the dark about it too.
Insurance is so confusing, but you gotta have it. Be safe out there!
I got quotes from 2400-24000. I don’t think I’m gonna pay 10-20k more a year for a big what if. I’d rather take my chances
c_wininger so does this mean you’re abandoning the conspiracy theory? diamondridge really will be sad. I know he loves a good conspiracy
Edit: forgot the “hashtag sarcasm font”

Yeah, I think I mentioned Dave lions share Carroll as saying that in one of my previous posts. , but it was Boss. Dead nuts on this statement, for the most part. However, it really depends on your adjuster. It’s not a lock that your claim will be denied, just very possible.

If the insurance company’s pull all these loop holes on you your better off being self insured . Put that monthly payment in YOUR bank acct and wait for the day you have to use it. Just hope you don’t break something worth 100k , then your done .

After reading this post all the way through I thought i would look into my own policy, I guess things are a little different down under my policy has me covered for CCC up to $250,000, I feel a little more comfortable to know that i am fully covered. Unless i burn down a house lol.
My policy is
Public liability 20 million
Property in care, custody and control 250k
products liability 20 million
pollution 20 million
I pay 1095 p.a for this cover.
Wow! I’ve been sent paying $2200 for 2mil in coverage that doesn’t include CCC

Hi Mike ~ I will pass along your information and request to the agents in the office! I am sorry to be just seeing this from Thursday evening. I wasn’t getting alerted of anything in this thread like I have in the past. Still learning how this works too.
Happy Monday!
Amy
as one of the guys said earlier in the conversation about CCC I also asked my agent to write me a letter that I don’t need CCC coverage as he previously told me !
guess what he said I can’t do that because I don’t want to be sued ! -I told him good for you then quote me for CCC today ASAP.
waiting on the quote right now !
Funny going back to this thread after doing policy reviews lately. I found it so interesting that I ended up writing a blog post with the help of JDW. I http://masterproclean.com/blog/liability-insurance-coverage/
I’ve been with JDW for 2 years now and they’ve been great. But this year we’re pursuing work over 3 stories and JDW won’t touch it or even let me sub it out and they won’t cover snow removal which has become a huge request from my clients in the winter.
I had one agent not even understand what CCC is and two more tell me that I didn’t need it because it was already covered by a General Liability. I then asked them to confirm this with the underwriter for the various carriers. The underwriters also stated that I didn’t need it. Then I asked them to confirm this with the carrier’s lead adjusters (the ones who actually investigate and approve/deny a claim}. I this is where it got sticky cause now the wording changed from “will” to “should.” If it “should” cover, I had my agent request a notarized letter from the lead adjuster and the underwriter for the policy. Much to my agent’s surprise, they outright REFUSED to put their words in writing.
Now I’m signing a new policy with CCC tomorrow morning for work up to 10 stories including snow removal with my new agent who really did her homework and went the extra mile in researching things for me. (Besides it’s only an extra $200/yr)
how on earth did they pull that off? Snow removal GL coverage is usually crazy expensive, especially for a company providing it for their first season. Apparently lawyers love slip & fall suits…
sadly ccc is not available in canada, when i asked my agent he confirmed that if i damaged a mercedes while cleaning a house window i was covered but if i broke the window NOT COVERED.
