Guess I needed to make a little clarification, the extra CCC endorsement was $200. The complete new policy is double what I was paying before. And the snow removal originally was a huge extra cost but my agent specified that I was only doing “hand removal” with shovels and snowblowers. No plows.
The underwriter was able to put snow removal as a small add on service at no extra cost.
I’m at 2 mil aggregate, 1 mil per occurrance and my CCC is for 25k.
Ask your agent to get both the underwriter and head of the adjusters group to put it in writing that you don’t need it.
Sounds like you might just have some lazy insurance people.
you can’t believe your agent because they don’t know what they are talking about. they will call the insurance company and speak to underwriting for clarification. you also can’t believe underwriting, because they will either be deliberately vague about coverage, or they also don’t know what they are talking about.
you have to speak to the actual insurance company’s loss department. this is where the decisions are made on wether or not to pay out on a claim. you have to be specific, and demand in writing, that there is not a Care,Custody and Control exclusion on your policy. That’s the only way to know for sure that you are covered if you damage what you’ve been contracted to work on.
Much like @MPServices, i did a lot of research on this and got wrong answers from several agents (supposed experts on coverage) who were getting their info from underwriting. I had puzzled looks, “sorry, we can’t help you”'s, claims that there was no such policy in existence etc.
JDW was the only company i could find that would actually provide the coverage I needed.
What is ccc
I jdw right now
Care, Custody and Control. if you have jdw you have nothing to worry about
I thought he was joking…
That’s funny. It never occurred to me it was the abbreviation. I feel silly now
