Flipping over a new blade and leaving streaks

Hi,
Can anyone help me? A number of times when I put in a new squeegee blade it works well for a few minutes (60-90 mins) then leaves streaks amd im thinking what the hell? So im stressing by washing the window again and again and the same thing still happens. Time is wasting and im getting really annoyed and frustrated. So I then flip over the new blade and same thing happens…What the hell??
I am using Sorbo blades. This is on an 22" and 18". The 10" and 12" are fine.
Any ideas or suggestions? I can really use some knowledge.

Andrew.

What is the temp you are using the hard rubber in?? That’s going to make a big difference.
There is a temp range you need to be switching to soft…

Are your stressing and therefore using to much pressure??

Maybe a mental issue… You got in your head “these blades always cause me problems”
So you end up doing what causes the issue…

Lot of guy’s prefer the Ettore Soren over that brand. From what i have read the baron is up there as well.

Me personally. I have never had a issue with the 18" sorbo channel or rubber.

Are you using a bucket on a belt? Any chance it’s got a ding in it that’s nicking your rubber?

never used that brand be for. simple rule though every time the blade leaves the glass wiped on both ends and down the blade. also inspect the blade run two fingers down to feel for cuts in blade or junk between the channel and blade. lastly hold the channel up to your eye like looking down the barrel of a rifle if it bent time for a new or blade could be installed wrong causing streaks or what we call in window cleaning lingo Gobers.

What do you mean ‘what is the temp I’m using the hard rubber in’?
The rubber is a Sorbo rubber.
Temp is cold water on hot days , warm on cold days.
The pressure I use is soft at first and when I feel I need to apply more pressure when the rubber is wearing I go a little firmer .
Does types of windows do this type of thing? Also does spray and wipe or any type of foreign chemicals on windows have an effect ? If so will that stay on the rubber or will I need to throw it out ?

Cool , I’ll put some tape over it now . Could be one of the problems.

When I have this problem I just give the rubber a full dip in the bucket and it normally stops. A lot of times a hair or some small debris will leave streaks, but will come right off in the bucket. I’ve had 2 Baron rubbers (which i love at all temps, hot to -20C, haven’t had any temp troubles) that had a small bump on them when brand new and would leave streaks. Could only use 3 sides on those 2.

If you are using the same channel with new rubber each time it could also be a slight bend/nick in the channel it’s self
which is causing the rubber not to lay true.

Try a another channel and new rubber…and if that doesn’t help it’s technique.

Hope this helps!

How long have you been using this equipment? It could be several things.

If you’ve switched from another brand, try different angles (raise or lower your wrist/hand). When I switched from pulex to ettore, I had to hold it differently because they’re made for different angles. This might be your issue, if you get tired, you might be messing up your angle.

If it’s old equipment, the channel might have gotten warped, but the Sorbo stuff is pretty resilient.

It could be a nick in the boab, it could be hair, or you might just want to dip your channel in the bucket.

You said “streaks” do you mean like a bunch of lines, one line, or something else?

Thank you. Will give it a try .

It’s not the squeegee. It’s the window cleaner hehe joking.

It could be hairs from the wand if its a new ettore yellow wand cover?

Boab’s always wear a flat spot on the back side of the rubber from constantly moving about.

This happens constantly, but the benefit of using a boab far outweighs the few dollar loss on a blade.

No problem Hollywood!

What is a boab ?

Yeah I get a bunch of lines . They are like smears. This happens all the time. What do you think it is?

Dish soap plus wand fibers

I use GG3 and unger professional gel.
What is wand fibres ? How do you get rid of them ?

Hollywood

Thanks everyone for your help. You all have been very supportive . I’m gonna give a new channel a go on both the 18 and 22. Once I get them and give them a go I’ll let you all know the out come.
Thanks again

I’m guessing a new whetter or wand cover (yellow one). When they are brand new they shed hairs onto the glass. If that’s it then once the wand is used enough it won’t shed anymore fibers/hairs. You can wash it in a washing machine I’ve been told.
Try it without the gel and see if it is the fibers shedding off the wand.

Quick question, Are you using the sorbo silicone roll or natural cut to length rubbers?

If you are using the rubber off the roll, this is your problem right there, silicone rubber is shit and wears out after a few windows, the edge becomes round very fast. If you are not using rubber off the roll then I honestly i have no idea, maybe your supplier is buy rolls and cutting lengths to make more profit. I normally replace my sorbo rubbers once a week or longer my regular channel sizes are 18" and 22". Although as off the start of the year have been using baron rubbers 4 sides comparable results cheaper price, no brainier for me.
