I am on the fence on buying a WFP and have been looking at the Gardiner CLX series? How is everyone liking their Gardiner poles? Thanks. J
I own the 27’ CLX and like it a lot. It has a good sturdy feel to it and I really like the
clamps. I just wish it were one section longer. I have used the SLX 56’ (or thereabouts) sectional pole several times and like that too
for doing the high stuff. The lightness can’t be beat. Nothing comes close. It is not exactly sturdy and I snapped
one section in half putting it up the very first time because I was used to a Tucker pole and just walking it
up like a ladder. Oops. However, I quickly got how it needs to be handled and it’s not a problem.

Matt, did you snap a CLX or SLX?
I just ordered Package #3. I have asked people on here about it & everyone had a positive review. I can’t wait till U.P.S. comes a knockin. I will keep you informed
What’s in package #3?
My apologies #3 is a Gardiner 26’ pole full cube DI tank 150’ of 3.8ths supply hose. I got it here.
If this is going to be your first WFP then I think you’ll be very happy with a 27’ CLX. Although soon you will be wanting more. I suggest getting a 30’ SLX right from the get go. It’s stiffer, lighter and a tad bit longer.
Seth,
I agree! May I add if you’re a residential guy that it’s the only pole you’ll ever REALLY need.
Just my 2 cents
PS
I saw a video with a side by side comparison and the CLX has a lot more flex than a SLX. That means that the CLX is more fatiguing to use which means the CLX will be more expensive to own!
Ya, the 27’ CLX was just short for a third story window on the first house I used it on. my older 31’ Xtel hybrid pole just reached it and is actually a bit stiffer, although not quite as light and thin.
The only advantage that my CLX pole has over my SLX is that the sections are little shorter when fully collapsed. Other than that I think the SLX is worth every dollar more you have to spend for it over the CLX.
The SLX goes out in one truck everyday and the older pole in the other truck. The CLX just sits in the equipment room collecting dust as a back up.
I love my CL-X but I agree w/ Seth. If you can spend the extra get the SL-X. If not the CL-X will be a great pole for you.
Not to get off topic, but this is something that has been bothering me ever since I have been on this forum. Well ok maybe not bothered but it’s something that I think of often when I see it but never just come out ask because it always seems like a weird question and it’s never relevant to the topic at hand… like this one. But I’m tired of wondering, so I’ll just ask… Seth, what kind of sandwich are you eating in that picture? I always imagine it’s bologna but then I see the little strips hanging out and I think-- no, maybe it’s tuna…
Since it’s Seth, I guarantee there is at least some bacon on that sandwich!
Gardiner has the best pole! I have a Super Lite and a SL-X and love both of them.
Haha. I can’t remember exactly but I’m guessing tuna. And sadly no bacon, I’m pretty sure. I found the original picture and attached it below. It was taken at Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet, SC.
Thanks for all the input folks. I appreciate the insight. I’m going to have to do a little more research and let you guys know what I come up with. The 30 foot range sounds ideal for me but it would be beneficial to have couple extra feet when needed. I’ve just heard so much talk about the WFPs figured I’d get on the band wagon. I’ve used them in the past but they were always Tucker poles and heavy as hell…
I use my CL-X 18 alot now instead of my SL-X 30 on 1st and 2nd story work. Since I may not fully extend sections, I believe the difference in flex is less noticeable.
In the past, I would have dropped sections with the SL-X for lower work.
Dependent upon terrain, obstacles, and severe angles or placement of windows where the SL-X’s rigidity is superior, the CL-X works great.
just put into the field my clx 27 this week. LOVE it made $1200 in 9 hours of use
I have just been doing too many jobs lately and going to bid jobs that would be ideal for a WFP. I guess its just a matter of time now…
Neither actually It was the Super-light, not the SLX.
Matthew
I got the 56ft slx and LOVE IT! 27ft pole will leave you short on some homes…I have several homes that have 40ft windows so I have to get the 56 and when collapsed it is short enough for ground work…but will be getting a short one for ground work.
