I’m going to be doing a little bit of gutter cleaning this season and I was wondering about pricing. This is for straight cleaning out of debris including flushing out, no add-ons.
I want to find out average price per linear foot for those who price this way.
I want to know price for small, medium, and large houses for those who price this way.
What is and add on? To me flushing out the gutters is an add on. I tell people I scoop out and remove the debris and check the downspouts for X amount. If I need to do anything more like snake the downspouts or flush out any sludge or do any minor repairs I charge extra and will charge accordingly. I charge for the work performed not by footage. If there is nothing in the gutter I don’t charge as if they are completely clogged with debris.
All my gutter customers are already window customers so they trust me to charge what I need to charge. There are lots of just gutter cleaning companies that will charge half of what I charge. So it’s hard to say what you should charge without knowing your customers.
Most go for “Standard”, but a few have jumped on the “Premium” bandwagon. It’s funny to hear people call up, and tell us exactly what they want.
“Hi, I was on your website, and I would like the Premium Window Cleaning service for our home, which I think is ‘Medium-sized’, base on the photographs I see, and we would also like to book the Premium Eavestrough Cleaning service too. Please call us back.”
It has been my experience in the last couple of months, since I redid all those pricing pages, that prospective clients LOVE LOVE LOVE to be able to self-select their service without having to speak with someone.
Total customer convenience. And its QUICK - versus making people fill in 25 different fields on an online form instead…it’s been my experience that the more transparent I can make my pricing appear, the more comfortable people are with it.
I typically charge $1 per linear foot. That includes scooping out the crud, snaking the down spouts, rinsing and checking the flow and hauling away the debris if they want that.
Based on P.P.'s web page, my $1 ft. comes out to about what he is charging for the premium svc.
I also offer a special service that costs a little more but I give a 6 mo. guarantee that if the gutters get clogged within that time, we will come out for free and take care of it. As long as they have us back every 6 months, they have no worries.
I just bid an apartment complex gutter cleaning job. Most of the gutters had weeds growing in them and they are all two story buildings. There is 6000 feet of gutters and I bid it fo at $9900.00. I will have to have a manlift for most of the job. I figure it will take two weeks. Any suggestions? how about the price?
I try to be as transparent as possible. Higher close rate for people visiting website and calling (since I can refer them to my website), less wasted time driving all over the place giving quotes.
For basic cleaning out the gutters and checking the downs I charge.30 cents a foot for single story and.40 cents for second story. I just priced a 1300 foot apartment complex for about $400 and it should only take about an hour and a half so I think that’s a good price.
Past that time of year for gutter cleaning again around here. Surprised more people don’t/won’t take advantage of it even though there is a ton of Oak trees in their neighborhoods.
This mornings quote was to clean all windows and screens, inside/outside, plus 265 feet of gutter clean-out. The customer was ready to schedule for all work done before I even got there. (Love those type!). They want it broke up into two different visits so someone can be there to let me in the house on their busy schedule, but gutters anytime ASAP.
With some folks I have even pointed out to them the vegetation growing out of their gutters and they still say no, even before hearing any estimates! What gives with that?
