Have you advertised in the theater?

My wife and I were sitting in the movies the other day. The pre show was running and they had a handful of ads for local businesses. I recognized 5 out of the 10 companies. So I called the movie theater and got more info on it. This specific theater brings in 16,000-20,000 viewers per week. They charge $400 a week to run your ad and its industry specific. So they wouldn’t have another company like ours running. This ad would run literay right before the movie started so they said 70% of people would be seated.

Has anyone tried this? Seems pricey

That’s a lot if money ! There lying about 70% of people being seated I don’t believe it . How many percent in the movies are home owners ? An how many of them are your target market ? I’m no marketing expert , but I wouldn’t do it
Don’t get me wrong it doesn’t matter what anything cost as long as the Roi is right , but I’m not willing to risk 1600.00 to find that one out. Spend the money on eddm or something more proven .

This would be a great thing if the theatre can Garuntee that the mean income of thier patrons is $100,000 and above.
I’m sure most people in the theatre are useing thier disposable income to GO to the movies

An that’s the problem in my eyes. There are more. 15-22 year olds in the movies these days than people with that kind of income .

If you want to advertise your window cleaning business and the theater serves wine (not beer) then you might have a shot.

But if you own a cookie shop, brownie boutique, or cupcake shack, then heck yeah, sign up immediately.

I think it might depend on the size of your town. I did this in a town with a fifteen thousand population for a child care center I was opening. Fit that situation it was all about making the community aware that we were there. Lots of patents and grandparents went to the movies. But I have to agree that it probably wouldn’t work as well for window cleaners.

Who really pays attention to the commercials in a movie house?

Your call to action would have to be beyond amazing. People are looking at their phones or stuffing their mouths full of popcorn.

I tried this 2 years ago at our local theater (I live in a small community) so I thought this would work well.
Come to find out, it did not work at all…The 175 a week for a month could have been better spent some where else in the marketing system.

Did you get one single phone call from the movie preview?

If you did, it worked better than I WOULD have expected.

Not one phone call, popcorn and jr.mints are more important then window cleaning.

Incidentally, I saw a truck of yours a while back, I was going to stop and say hi.

  • but it looked like you may have just been visiting someone or something.
  • Or maybe it was an employees home or something.
    Didn’t see any activity, or I would have.

(I was in my personal car, I wouldn’t just show up in a work truck, uninvited like that) :slight_smile:

As mentioned above, don’t spend your money. Everyone is glued to their phones. Direct mail is the way to go!
