Home Advisor

Sort of. With direct mail, they arent necessarily looking for me. But if they were to go online and search for a window cleaner, and my website is already listed on the first page just like home advisor, then why am I paying more money for them to click on home advisor. Basically all i’m paying for is for Home Advisor to narrow down the customers search from 10 to 5.

Do you have good results with them Larry?

Because when I tell them all I offer they go “great”, I schedule them and they call me five minutes later to tell me they’ve found someone that’s gonna do it for $10 less than what I quoted them. Or I call a day before scheduled appointment to confirm and they go “oh we found someone cheaper”

In general, just not the type of client I am after, plus most of the homes through servicemagic were older homes with French windows and falling apart storms that others charge $10 a window and client thinks I am ripping them off because I quoted them a fair price.

Not to mention those bogus leads that sm still charges you for. If I was the cheapest in town I would be all over sm or ha since I’d win 90% of the leads.

Tapatalking

Because HA is supposedly screening the contractors. I do have good results, I calculated ROI awhile back at 7:1

Thats not bad. Do you set a limit on how many leads? And how much is it per lead?

I just paid under $4 to bid on an $8k semi-annual job servicing the Federal bldg in Seattle via Thumbtack.com. Previously, I have paid ServiceMagic (aka Home Advisor) as much as $18 to bid on removing grafitti from a single pane of glass at McDonalds (didn’t get it), or last week it was a single storefront that would have cost lest than the HomeAdvisor fee (didn’t get that either). Whatever you do, you owe it to yourself to check out Thumbtack.com as well.

It varies, I think it’s around $12. I have my budget I think around $2k/month. I also have my service areas defined for the most desirable zip codes, which helps cut down on the price shoppers.

Larry how many leads did you get last year?

Couldn’t really tell you off the top of my head.

diamondridge You swayed me into giving home advisor a whirl. Landed the first and only job that came through. Small job, but hey it’s something

Sweet. Stay on top of it and it should pay off.

I just started HA today. My first lead was for pool cleaning, and I got it. I called her within 5min of the txt and she was surprised at the quick response.

Good job, keep it up

Hey Tim any update on this. I just got a call today from home advisor. Thinking of giving it a whirl after reading this thread.

Thanks

I’ve been thinking of using HA as well, they’ve called a few times now and I’m not sure if I want to go ahead with it. I was on the site and they never laid out any type of cost for their services/leads… That right there made me very hesitant to actually using them.

The leads are expensive, IMHO and you can’t choose to accept them or not. I think window cleaning leads are around $13 each.

Tried it for over a year, wasn’t impressed myself. I think there are much better ways to get new work.

Wow, I’ll stick to thumbtack for the paid for leads. I’ve spend $40 on credits and have gotten a very good ROI on that initial 40 bucks

If you put me down as a referral, we both get $100 in free leads

I think I may do it just to try, can you cancel whenever?
