How do you guys deal with rain?

Hey guys, one of my new years resolutions is to push a lot more window cleaning.

My question is, what is your rain policy? If you clean a house and rains that or next day?
Just curious since reason is coming my way? Thanks in advance!

With rain frequently in the forecast two or more times a week cleaning the windows a day or two after it rains is usually the exact same thing as cleaning the windows a day or two before it rains.

Unless it’s raining or there is a heavy rain storm approaching that day I will clean the windows. It’s unpredictable weather in New England, the other day it was snowing, two days later it was 50+ out, now it’s in single to negative digits.

Here in central Florida it’s nearly a every day occurance therefore our “rain policy” is, there is none!

Rain is rain. Rain on dirty windows makes mud. Rain on clean windows should mostly sheet off if the windows were cleaned thoroughly. If windows are fairly close to the ground and dirt splatters up and makes a mess of the windows and the customer ask about then I tell them to give me a call if it rains in the next few days and I will come out and do a courtesy clean to get that dirt off. In five years I have yet to put that to use. It would be quick and simple if I did.

I have a 14 day rain policy. However, that is only for quarterly customers, or those who pick my premium package. I have only had to go back to one or two customers in my 7 years.

I offer a 10 day rain guarantee and it really puts the customer at ease so they don’t feel like suckers having their windows cleaned in the rainy season. I rarely get a callback, but when I do, I’m happy about it because it’s just one more thing that sets us apart.

7 day rain guarantee. Customer Satisfaction is Guaranteed.

Thanks guys. This is exactly what I was looking for.

I do a 5 day rain guarantee. It doesn’t always tip the scale in my favor if I think it’s actually feasible to go that day, but usually.
A simple truth to try reasoning with someone who thinks rain ruins is windows is this: “Rain doesn’t make windows dirty. Dirt makes windows dirty.” Can’t remember who coined this, but it doesn’t get much simpler than that.

Put out a rain guarantee on your advertising, that you’ll fix any windows that are marked by the rain up to a week or so after it rains ! I’ve done that down in SoCal and for the most part never had to go back to re-do any windows because of rain, but it gives the customers confidence in you… Here in Seattle Washington rain is part of our normal weather, so most people just go with the flow !

How do i deal with rain??
Well, i grab a bar of soap!!!
How i do love rain showers…

I go outside and shake my fist at the sky for robbing me of a booked week!

you can offer a million day rain guarantee and it still won’t prevent, ‘oh I don’t want you to have to come back, let’s just reschedule until after the rainy season’

lol I was literally about to reply to this thread, and then I saw this and lol’d

“Would you like to reschedule?”

“I think I’ll just call back when it clears up…”

yeah, rightttt

i only give a three day rain guarantee. I guarantee that’ll rain in three days or less. :stuck_out_tongue:

2 weeks sets me apart, here in Oklahoma. Gives people piece of mind, especially during the crazy tornado season.

Maybe I should do a tornado guarantee…

How do I deal with the rain? I pull my hood up and go to work!

Actually, a friend and I put together a pamphlet to explain why rain won’t mess up your windows.

Here’s the basic outline:

Can My Windows be Cleaned in the Rain?
Yes! In fact it is usually better to have them washed in the rain; it acts like an extra rinse cycle in the cleaning process. Our cleaners work year round and are able to work in all weather conditions with only a few exceptions: high winds, torrential downpour, and lightning.

Does Rain Make Windows Dirty?
No! Windows do not become dirty from rain, they just get wet. They become dirty from pollen, dust, and bird droppings. The pollen and dust can be evenly distributed when it is dry making it less obvious that your windows are dirty. When it rains, the dust and pollen are formed into patterns rather than being evenly distributed, making it obvious that your windows are dirty. Making it even more important to have your windows cleaned when rain is expected!

Rain water is very different from pool, sprinkler, or even water from your hose. It is pure or de-ionized. It is naturally soft, containing almost no dissolved minerals, salts, or chemicals. That is why rain itself cannot make a window dirty.

So, Getting Windows Cleaned in the Rain is a Good Idea?
Yes! It’s not only a good idea, we recommend it. If we clean your windows in the rain, the dust, pollen, and other contaminants are still removed. The rain will sheet off or dry spot free on your clean windows, and they will look just as good, if not better than a normal cleaning.

If your windows are dirty (from dust, pollen, etc.) and we do not clean them, rain will make them look horrible until the next time we come to clean. Rainy weather is one of the most important times to make sure your windows are clean.

Additionally, windows are engineered to use rainwater and natural sunlight to remove organic dirt. With modern windows, rain will actually prolong the time your windows remain clean!

However, I’ve found that in the southwest, this isn’t always true. It depends on the house type and location. Stucco holds a LOT of dirt so it’s more than likely that rain will mess up our windows. But I just talk to the customer and tell them, “I want to make sure you’re happy, so if the rain messes them up, give me a call and I’ll touch them up.”

Funny I do the same thing and then I say a little prayer- ‘black hole sun won’t you come and wash away the rain’
