How many hours could I do this in?

hey guys,
doing an estimate for a decent size two story building. I’m not sure how long it would take cause I don’t do many commercial buildings. How many hours would it take with tucker pole?

This is the longest side of the building with the most glass.
There are 250 panes on the top, 250 smaller panes right below it, and roughly 250 panes on the first story.

The side pictured has about 95 of those 250 panes.

I have a couple two story buildings like that. It takes me around 10 hours to do each by myself. Add an extra person maybe 7 hours?. From the picture the building looks to be about 50,000 square feet?

yeah, it might be that large. I’m not sure though.

Thanks for the input, I was guesstimating about 12-14 hours, but wasn’t quite sure.

I think I would need a rainbird connector cause I didn’t see any spickets. Is there often one in the janitorial closet?

There should be a connection in the Janitors closet. I hate it when there is not a water connectin on the exterior of the building. Yeah the sprinkler adapter or the Janitors closet is your only way to get water unless you bring it in a tank. Have fun! Also what length Tucker pole are you using?

I have a 45’, but I think this building will only need about 25’

I don’t do a lot of those buildings (yet) but I’m really interested in knowing what are my options to get water, and more precisely, how.

Don’t mean to thread-jack this KC but it might be beneficial for lots of people under the same circumstances. If you manage to get that problem solved and have a chance to take a few pics that’ll be awesome.

I’m in the same boat as you. I always wonder were the stinkin water is at.

I don’t own a rainbird, but even if i did, I would need an extra 400 feet of hose to reach the opposite corner of the building!!! No underground plug ins over there.

I will keep you guys updated on what I learn

I think you can get that done in about 10 hours, really, maybe 7.
The bottom windows on the first floor you can have someone go in fromt of you with your wand on a pole and wash them while you rinse…you can even do that yourself, it will cut alot of time out. The building really is not that large at all. I think the time consuming factor will be the small windows under the large ones on the 2nd floor. You may have a problem with the run-off from the top windows. You will probably have to do the top row half way accross, then come back and do the bottom row.
There should be a place to tap in to the irrigation at LEAST at 2 sides of that building. One of mine is about that size, and there is only one. One of mine dont have any at all, and I have to use a janitors closet from inside the building with 600’ of hose! Thankfully the pressure is good enough to use DI. What about buildings close to it? Any hookups there? You can ask to use their water as well. May even get them as a customer!

just curious as to what your estimate is for the above place. I would probaly say around $410 if it is outs only. I can’t afford a WFP though at the moment so I would have to use a 30 ft pole with a stripwasher/squeegee combo in an 18" But I think It would take me around 14-15 hours with doing it that way. But for 2 days of work and a very tired arm/arms $400 would be nice :stuck_out_tongue: if you all think that is reasonable.

There’s no way I would do it that cheap…
Remember, that is one side of the building.

I was thinkin 2 or 3x that amount, but that’s why I don’t win many of these…

I’m just starting up so I guess thats why It’s so low and the area I am in. But to me $410 is pretty good. About $30 an hour for 14-15 hours.

tskracer911, not trying to be a jerk here, and I do understand that you’re just starting but you need to be careful if you go too low to get the job since it will bite you back in the long run, especially if you’re a one man.

I think you should charge at least $2,500 on up to a high of $3,500. Or if nothing else at least $100 per hour to $150 per hour.

I think everyone should start raising their rates after all the fed just pumped several trillion dollars into the market, if you don’t raise your rates with the inflation then your business is already taking a loss from last year.

Also if we all start raising our rates it will become the standard. As read on here about insurance companies, they are raising their rates. And so have other businesses. Why not us?

Maybe it’s time to form a window washing cartel!

Then we can stick it to people like dentist for example who charge $900 bucks to fix one tooth when we might work all day for a couple of days to pay for that one tooth, that took them an hour.

By your pane count, my price would be $1500. I’d expect it to take me between 10-12 hours with a wfp.

Sounds good,
next time someone wants a bathroom mirror cleaned…
I’m yelling, “$75!”

It’s cool, So I’m guessing maybe $1,100 or so? sound better punta?

Thats a big 10-4 on that my friend! 400$??? Not a chance! How do you live off that? I would bid it around 800 bucks if it takes 6-8 hours with the WFP. But with all the problems, maybe a bit more.

;)But I like yer style, all I gotta say is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJ-LHGfMuLM

I hear ya. I would do it no less than $1500.00. but that is just tme.

500 panes times 2.50 a pane= 1250.00…at least in my area
