How much time does using a spray bottle inside a home save you?

I use my empty dawn dish soap bottles for interior and exterior, that way you don’t dirty your bucket water as fast, and you don’t use dirty water to clean a window

Hey Chad, have you used a squeeze bottle yet . I never understood the spray type you still have to scrub so how does it save time, am I missing something ? I’m not knocking it just trying to make sense of it . With a squeeze bottle you can wet your strip washer, an clean a bunch of windows, with the spray bottle you have to spray every window then scrub ViewRenew what do you think ?

As careful as I try, I don’t like the phantom drips that appear on customers’ floors near the bucket or windows. Spray bottles solve that for me. I use less water and soap overall.

Actually I ordered a 16oz squeeze bottle from WCR this morning. Is that the size bottle you use?

I use the Ecover bottles now I think there 240z. I use to use the round 24oz ones still have them I just like the way the Ecovers fit in my ettore pouch, and I also like the way the water flows out if them

@ viewrenew I was asking you to compare the spray type containers to the squeeze type

@provostservices. Chad. Abc sells a bottle holder that will hold those round 24oz bottles nice. The 16oz will fit in the unger pouch I think the 24 fits also but tight. The Ecover fits nice In the ettore pouch my personal fav,
All in all I thjnk 24oz is the way to go . Jmo

Thanks for the advice!

Majestic66 I’ve never used the squirt bottle. I would still find a way to make drips on the ground, I’m sure of it.

Here are my latest observations with mini pump sprayer vs. squeeze bottle vs. bucket:

Pump sprayer pros:
•allows pre-wetting glass, casement screens, muntins, frames, and sills. This facilitates the breakdown of dirt before I even begin to scrub, as I will spray a complete set of casements before I scrub. This has saved huge amounts of time on certain jobs.
•easy to operate, not much pumping

Pump sprayer cons:
•one more thing to carry
•the ones I’ve been getting from HD begin to leak rather quickly, letting small drops out of the nozzle without the trigger being squeezed. Maybe I need to find a different brand sprayer
•one more thing to carry… Yeah, I know I mentioned it, but I’ve got too much stuff on my belt already.
•tendency to wet surfaces I wasn’t planning on cleaning, like surrounding frames on a basic clean
•need to rinse out strip washer from time to time, or often for first time cleans
•might be a little slow to wet an entire set of windows, depending on the sprayer nozzle

Squeeze bottle pros (all theoretical for me, I haven’t yet utilized this method):
•more portable, more size choices
•should allow for faster water dispensing than a sprayer
•more precise dispensing than a sprayer- no wet frames

Squeeze bottle cons:
•doesn’t allow pre-wetting
•still need to rinse strip washer
•adds more weight to the belt

I think we’re all familiar with the pros and cons of buckets by now. I have found that on some of my maintenance cleans, I can get away with only dipping into my bucket 2 or 3 times to do all of the interiors (these are homes in the $300 range). Careful use of the strip washer to pick up water from my squeegee means the little bit of water in my BOAB can last quite a while.

My final analysis: what I choose to use will vary depending on the job. I really love the pump sprayer on those jobs with a lot of casements, espeially when the screens aren’t too dirty and there are muntins to wipe down. I will probably stick with the bucket for most first time cleans. And I’m gonna try the squeeze bottle for commercial and residential maintenance work where there aren’t a lot of casements involved.

8 years later you still use a sprayer? lol

i use these. they often leek but i put teflon tape on the thread and it stops. very handy, wash scrubber in bucket between homes. The Window Cleaning Store - 16oz Bottle With Flip Top Lid

Same here. Big saver on not dumping a bucket on the flooring, get water on the glass and not just in the boab.

I want to try it instead of dragging a bucket around

Nope. I think that lasted a year or two, at most. Feel free to give it a try, though. You might like it. :man_shrugging:

For me since I do 99% of external windows with WFP, I find I only really need to rinse out my washer once or twice, with my regulars I rinse it out after the job.

We used to take a bucket inside the home , never again . I leave it by the front door and just rinse my applicator if it’s really dirty . So once you make a fresh new bucket in the morning just fill up your bottles for the day and you’re good to go for insides .

so i said i use a squirt bottle but to be clear:
we use wfp for all outsides
we do almost all residential
before going in the mop is dunked in bucket and squeezed out to clean it
dunked & squezed again in fresh solution (gg4 and winslip, soap applied directly to scrubber)
squeeze bottle is to replenish when needed
scrubber is placed on glass and solution applied toglas directly above scrubber

i have a couple commercial buildings i do outsides in the winter and in that case i use a bucket or solution feed as squirt bottle is not practical for outside dirty glass

a spray bottle is not as accurate and is harder on your hand.

we do use spray bottles with purified water for unger pads if touching up high windows.

So in your squirt bottle, are you carrying straight water or soapy water. I know some guys apply soap directly to the mop. So now you’re carrying two bottles vs using the bucket?

Either way it doesn’t matter. I do both . I go in with a square bucket with a few water bottles filled with water. There’s always a sink somewhere to fill my bottles back up if need. Be
