Yeah, I finally got embarrassed enough by my screens that I cleaned ours. This particular dirt pattern is from the swamp cooler. You have to crack your windows to get a good flow of air. So yeah, every house I do has at least one screen like this.
swamp cooler? Is that some type of evaporative cooling system? How do you like it? Iâd really like to move away from the energy-hogging, ugly window A/Câs
I did a âhousewife cleanâ with some windex on my storm door the other dayâŚ
but yeah, thatâs about it. :o
By the wayâŚ
Youâre a real %^@$⌠for making me admit that!
Yeah, swamp/evaporative coolers are cheap to maintain and cheap to run BUT if you live in a humid environment youâd better stay away. Itâd be a nightmare with mold.
Windex? You are dead to me. But yeah, itâs a kick in the ego if your wife busts out the windex to clean something.
Iâm kind of feeling schtoopid right nowâŚ
But I have anA/C unit that has a dehumidifier on it.
But it gets full of water and shuts off quick, if I use that mode.
Is this the a similar âthing?â
In all fairness to ME, I had just installed the storm door, myself [increased manliness]
But honestly, it took me about a week for the install [shit, back to decreased manliness]
No, the idea behind a swamp/evap cooler is you run water through some straw like pads. Then the unit sucks air in through those wet pads and into your house. You have to crack a window to get air flow through your house. So usually youâll crack one window per room.
Your ac system is different in that you donât crack any windows and the dehumidifier takes the water out of the air before it comes down.
Here we want the watery air because itâs so dry and the wetter you can keep your pads, the cooler your house will be.
Chris or Alex, could we change the title of this thread, so people know that itâs not just about the weather and getting a day off?
Something along the lines of: âhow to build a 4â half piece for sectional laddersâ
thanks!
^Iâm still contemplating this. BostonMike, Dangerous, JfromtheD, Majestic66, can you guys think of any reason this would be a bad idea?
Ill put in a change request right away!
Ya we been doing this long enough . Ya figure we would be use to the indecision of predicted rain, but each an every time it drives ya crazy.

While youâre at it drill a few hundred holes in the ladder rails like Swiss cheese. Thatâll save you a few more grams. Just to play it safe keep the modified ladder inside your vehicle. You wouldnât want OSHA or your insurance company to see it. They would probably frown on the modifications haha
Personally I wouldnât do it. Thereâs probably a good reason for their length. Just my 2 cents.
The holes idea was a joke. [emoji41]

I wouldnât do it ⌠whatâs 10 grams anyway.

Ok, time to confess. Itâs not really about the weight (10 grams is ~.35 oz.). Itâs for the ladder slides (I know, I know ). I tend to catch on those pegs on the way down. Plus Itâll be a little âcleanerâ looking, imo.
I know a lot of you frown on the slide. For me, itâs a time saver, reduces strain on the joints, prevents the ladder from bouncing, and I keep 4 points of contact the whole way down. You canât really do that climbing rung by rung ;). And I only slide while working outdoors.
I do realize the pegs are probably sized that way for a reason. Which is why I probably wonât trim them. I may end up just grinding the front edge back. Iâll post pics if and when I do it.
Sorry, I didnât see the comment the first time around.
But now that you have my attentionâŚ
By âPegsâ do you mean the locking pins?
You thinking about shaving them down/taking them off?
For a second, I thought you were talking about the rivets.
Sorry, I literally just walked in the door, so Iâm still in âwind down mode.â
BTW, for what itâs worthâŚ
I used to âslideâ down a 40 when I was your age.
Its actually was less tiring, not a show off thing.
(Iâve talked about my philosophy before, here, so I wonât bore everyone)
And I currently donât use locking pins on my personal set.
So donât worry about a â:eek:â reaction from ME.
Well, it just occurred to me the reason for the âextraâ length on the pegs. It provides a place to grip when separating sections. DurrrâŚ
Still trying to figure out what the âPegsâ are.
Any chance you could throw up a pic or something?
(I realize I will feel silly, when pointed out, I probably just use a different term/word) :o
