Those of you in the path of the latest hurricane - what are you doing about it?
“This could be the most intense storm in 20 years, so don’t be complacent about it.”
Did 5 emergency (read expensive) gutter clear-outs yesterday, another 4 on for today.
This is going to put a damper on my jersey shore vacation…
Business as usual. Going about my normal routine til Sunday, and planning on hunkering down in the studio (this building is pretty much a fortress) til the storm passes.
I’m expecting the phone to ring off the hook next week
Ugh people are in full on panic mode here… But we are actually working through the rain today…
I LOVE emergency gutter cleanings! We had a really wet summer, and we were able to take advantage of the opportunity. We were also able to educate people about how gutter cleaning IS atleast a annual chore, if not two-three times a year.
BTW, here’s a fun site to track irene current location and it’s predicted path.
Track Tropical Depression Ten, Track Hurricane Irene / Stormpulse / Hurricanes, severe weather, tracking, mapping
It just got real bro… the NHC and NWS JUST updated the track of the storm… heading a bit further west than before. We, in Woodbridge / Amboy / Northern Monmouth County NJ and Staten Island NY, are dead center in the “cone of death” now. This b1tch is going to come on shore in my backyard lol.
Heading to HD to pick up a generator, a back-up sump pump and some plywood right now, actually
Man the rain has already stopped here…
Wrong storm broham… Sunday, Sunday, Sunday
We learned our lesson around these parts during Floyd in '99 and Gloria in the '80’s
Oh I know we had a mini sever storm here for a few minutes went through quick…
I literally have never been so happy. The first few weeks of Sept are now booked solid because people are trying to get their appointments in early for after the storm is gone and emergency gutter cleans will bring in a few extra grand between today and tomorrow. Life is good
Sorry guys, but I am glad the storm is headed your way and not mine!!! I have seen a few hurricanes and tropical storms the last several years…Just think of all the cleanup work that is coming
It looks like the storm is going to come right up the Hudson River and visit the Albany area as well. We haven’t had a hurricane or remenats of one in over 50 years.
Remember when hooking up a generator to your house to turn off your main breaker. Stray electricity can kill a lineman working to restore your power.
Nice link - Just passed Miami (200 miles away).
Even Google Maps are in on it.
Cape May, Atlantic and Ocean Counties in NJ under mandatory evacuation orders. its getting a little scary around here. All coastal counties in NJ have been asked to evacuate, I’m not sure if that includes my county yet cuz we’re right whre the coast meets the city. Hoboken is under evacuation orders as well… that scares me because Hoboken is on a cliff, high up, and 1/2 mile across the river from Manhattan, which is not on a cliff. Wow, epic danger here right now.
Wow. Keep us updated… praying everything goes well for y’all.
So… WCR still there or did you get blown away? Thinking about you guys last night.
Torrential rains and the wind is starting to get strong. So far so good. Looks like what’s left of the eye is right over NJ now. They are still predicting around 8" of rain here.
Looks like 4 hrs before Irene hits NYC.
Stay safe guys on the east coast.
