looking closely that looks like an extension ladder with a pointed top not a sectional.

that is correct though for where he has the ladder is it not??
serious question i have no pointy top ladders.
I made so many posts I donāt understand the question?
this one, are you saying this is correct or not correct?
Do you think heās going to fall?
no i mean the ladder angle. it sounded before like you were saying the ladder should ALWAYS be at an angle,
i always assumed the laegs would be right angle to whatever it was leaning against the corner or the wall
So, the big update:
No wind today, thank goodness. However, extension ladder was definitely out of the question with the narrow sidewalk. In fact, it was questionable if even the stack ladder would work. Amazingly, i managed to piece all four (including an extra long top piece) together, but I cheated and used the wall a bit for help. Unfortunately, that bunched up the cloth I had on the tip and my bungee chords kept sliding and obstructing the v-groove. I didnāt feel good about the situation and decided to just give poling it my best shot. Still had to work in the street to work the pole and even the pole barely reached the top of the arch on the first section. The other sections would have been impossible as the sidewalk slopes down even farther. My water kept freezing, but thankfully I thought to bring my denatured alcohol, the first time Iāve even had to use it. It was rough, but I did the best I could. I felt the results werenāt acceptable (there were some streaks I just couldnāt get rid of and the bottom of the panes was nasty cause I just couldnāt get a good close-out angle), but the majority of the glass is clean and will at least allow for a better view of the parade. The manager wasnāt around, unfortunately, so I sent an email with the bill, an explanation, and an apology. I only charged for the insides and gave them the outside attempt for free. I felt that was fair as at least they got a result that will accomplish their goal of seeing the parade clearly and they got it for free to make up for the sub-par work. Well, not my best day. Kinda discouraged, but trying to remind myself better times are ahead.
Thanks again to everyone for your outstanding support!
If it makes ya feel any better, nobody ever looks up anyway. It just needs to shine up there. Who cares about a few streaks that high up.
Next time save yourself the hour it took to load and unload the ladder just to find youād pole it anyway.
Dont beat yourself up too badly. Remember, your competitors left without even making the attempt. Next season when you have the proper equipment I have no doubt you will land the whole job as a steady repeat.
yay
Iām happy you worked through the job and finished man, congrats. I know many would of walked away. It was an on the job training experience.
Thatās what I believe as well. I almost always set my ladder on a corner so my ladder is almost always at an angle to the wall. Putting it on a corner shortens my reach to the other side of the window and positions my face closer to the middle of my window.
Sounds great! Itās a learning adventure. Keep expanding your talents and enjoy the journey!!!
i want to make a pointy tip to attach to my lg
Fair play man for even attempting it with the pole. Its a learning curve for you and we were all in this position at some point starting out.Few jobs when i first started out i nearly walked away from but took a big gulp and said feck it learn by doing. The fact that you offered and done that lot of glass for free will definitely stand for you and may open more doors for you with that customer.Im rambling here but kudos to you for doing it.
P.S. Would an angle adaptor for the pole get you a better close on the bottoms? If so,defo invest in one.At least you know you can pole them now for the next timeā¦okay ill shut up now!
I have a 24 ft pointed extension ladder.i always go to corner point of the window reveal.I used to hate the ladder when i first bought it,mainly due to the bar that goes across the top of the bottom section of the extension ladder (always caught my knee or shin on the bastard) but now its my go to ladder for most of my residential and commercial work.i love it.
Dotsy: Any pictures
Finished up for the day and its dark out now.ill get one tomorrow for you.
Looking forward to seeing the pic also!
