I have a question on the best and most effective way to clean screens. Is the best way to clean them to use your window cleaning solution and scrubber. Then should you use a hose to rinse them off or just towel dry them? If there is a better way please let me know.

Screen Magic works great at times. What I do if the screens are really dirty, is scrub them down then hose them off.
If the screens aren’t to bad we just use the strip washer and cleaning solution, and then towel dry. If they are really soiled we have found that first using a soft bristled brush to get rid of most of the dirt and debris, and then finishing with the 1st method works well.
If you cant get the Pulex thing, use a brush and just plain old water, We either dust them, brush them with soap and water or brush and water. Whip them with your towel, that gets the water off
Screen Magic is a capital waste of money
I lay screens on the driveway and screb witruck brush and dawn soap + about half cup of ammonia two direction flip over and do same on other side rinse with water and let air dry wipe edges with dry towel as I put them back on window works great for me
tried screen magic but found it too expensive for regular screens ’ however do like it for sunscreens because it gives it great shine
screen magic all the way. it made me an additional $330 today cleaning sun screens and an enclosed patio. I love screen magic it saves time and makes money and gives great results
When it comes to cleaning screens.</SPAN>
Use an old scrubbing sleeve saturator with the same as what is used to clean the windows</SPAN>
Scrub both sides then the same as Mark whip the back side of the screen lightly with a dry cloth or small towel. </SPAN>
Get the solution off the screen.</SPAN>
Then wipe the frame with micro fibre cloth. </SPAN>
Found doing the screens as you go is the quickest way.</SPAN>
As it is done the same time as you are doing the windows.</SPAN>
Trick is to use a lot of solution on the scrubber.</SPAN>
Then it not necessary to brush off the dust or eat it.</SPAN>

I clean my screens the same way. The fine dust in AZ doesn’t come off any other way.
I’ve tried using my strip washer, but I think using a wet huck works better - especially when you need to get the gunk out of the nooks of the frame. Hold the screen in one hand and wrap the huck around the frame with the other. You can zip along all four sides of the frame quickly and then do the cross piece if there is one. Rinse the whole thing down (including the actual screen itself) with a garden hose.
I bought a soft truck brush that I can use by hand or screw onto a pole. I use my soap (ecover) solution and tap off the excess water then towel dry.
If it wasn’t for the screens and the frames I could do a house in a very short time.
Quite a while ago I would do a 2 story house (without ladder work) in about 1.5 to 2 hours.
That was before there were so many window cleaners doing otherwise.
The screens and frames eat up the time.
I’ve heard that some people don’t charge for screens if they just brush off the dust and cob webs. They charge if the home owner wants them washed. What are your thoughts about this? I normally charge 1.00 per screen, but have lost some jobs when I told them my price for the screen cleaning. I would love to heard your thoughts on this
Which brings to another question</SPAN>
As Merv said that it is easier to do the windows that have not got screens on.</SPAN>
So do you charge just to take the screens off & on? </SPAN>
Then charge to clean?</SPAN>

If I don’t clean the screens then I was thinking of not charging just for taking them off to clean the windows. I know it takes longer, but it’s a hard sell to charge owners just for taking off the screens and not cleaning them. I don’t like doing screens but the owners usually want me to clean them so the windows and screens both look clean.
When quoting include say $1 to take on & off.</SPAN>
Then add the price to clean the screens.</SPAN>
Many WC say time is money.</SPAN>
How much time would you spend taking screens off & on?</SPAN>
How long to clean them?</SPAN>
How much time would you save if you do not have to take screens of & on? </SPAN>
Have had home owners clean there window only because they can’t get the screens off.</SPAN>

This is my personal opinion I always do the screens and put it in the flat price once I see the home Just as if I do the insides as well then its automatically included inthe price that the frames will be washed tracks cleaned out sills wiped clean windows relocked and blinds brought back down unless customer wants them up plus furniture and knickknacks put back I refer this to my customer as deluxe service and charge for it as a flat price they love that and about 75% of prospects say thats what they want I don’t change my price for a simple extra like a mirror they have trouble with getting clean it’s usually about 2 minutes of time for me
one thing I found is customers don’t want a list of charges they want it simple like a flat price is but let them know ahead of time that the price is for whats listed on the estimate sheet additional work will be additional charge
hope I explained that clearly anyway thats what I do hope that helps niel
