What is the average yearly income for Pressure washing?

Why are you yelling?

Maybe he is making sure the other pressure washers can hear him?

Has to be a scam. Why else would he post to a window cleaning site and list his email.

but he yelled at Ron so all is good.

Add-on service here. Great add-on I must say. Only use a 3500 psi unit for spring cleaning of balconies and some graffiti removal in tandem with chems.

Make anywhere between $250-$350/hr (CAD) . Super easy work. Actually, no brain activity work. Easier than wfp but more complex equipment.

ā€œYou get what you charge for.ā€

Attention: fellow millennials. ā€¦ Stop complaining that you have no work. Stop asking me for work. Get off the couchā€¦

ā€¦ All by bicycle :joy:

People are asking you for work? I donā€™t want your work Josh! I think your drinking some special sauce, because I couldnā€™t do all you do. Iā€™m shot after an 8-12 day of pw/wc. I couldnā€™t Imagine riding a bike too. Iā€™m falling apart at 31 and trying to hire in the next 2-3 years so I donā€™t have to do as much physical work.:rofl::rofl:

Just turned 36 and Iā€™ve been feeling it for a couple of years now. Trying to stay fit :doughnut::wink:

I joined the club, I will let you all know how it goes. The startup cost is NOT as bad as some thinkā€¦

I believe I paid 1200 for the 5gpm pressure washer
-To compare, four pieces of sectional ladder will run you around 850-1000 dollars

700 for the Whisper Wash Surface Cleaner
-To compare, my 50 foot Xero pro basic pole ran me about 700-750

200 feet of hose + reel= 600 or so
-Cost of DIY RO pure water system

Donā€™t get me wrongā€” Not cheap by any means, but the VALUE and POTENTIAL FOR PROFIT from these tools make their initial purchase price a non factor to me. Even if I get 1-2 years out of the washerā€¦after 1200 dollars made it will become profitable to use. Keep in mind guys, I am a window cleaner. I never wanted to pressure wash. Ever. But guess whatā€” times change, and I feel I can add this onto my window cleaning and make some FOUND money in the process.

I donā€™t think itā€™s being a jack of all trades to have cleaning specialisms.

Carpet cleaning and power washing are good for when it is raining because you canā€™t clean windows. Window cleaning is ideal in the summer. Softwashing and roof scraping in the Autumn. If you can offer customers package deals you should be able to get a lot of custom for long but $1000 days.

I will say Iā€™m less enthusiastic about glass polishing than I was. Do I think I can make a packet when some builder scratches the crap out of his architectural glass. Yeah.

The problem is it takes a long time to master the trade.

What holds back most window cleaners isnā€™t this - itā€™s that on average weā€™re poor at business organization. Most people are.

Iā€™m looking at adding an extra 10-15k to my year end business income-- thatā€™s about it. I am 1 person, I never have had any desire to hire help-- for 16 years I was by myself for 90 percent of every job.

A little add-on to generate some extra income-- ā€œfound moneyā€ if I already do the customerā€™s homes.

I am a window cleaner first, and always. Less moving parts in window cleaning. Keep it simple. Nothing we do is reinventing the wheel, just providing a service. Worst case, Iā€™m out a couple thousand dollars-- I can make that up getting new window cleaning accountsā€” Whatā€™s the problem, you know? Give it a shot at least I wonā€™t be in my 40s wondering ā€œWhat ifā€-- being 34 I am still a baby (Hell, my mentor/former boss just turned 85, 50+ years window cleaning)-- have to work while I am able to!

That can/will happen without even trying, honestly.

You could easily add $30-$50k in pwā€™ing sales with a tiny bit of effort. Then youā€™ll find yourself passing up more difficult, lower paying window cleaning work, like dropping storm windows and the like.

Our eventual goal is to discontinue interior window cleaning altogether, and just offer exterior windows as an add on to pwā€™ing.

ā€œExpand the top, and dissolve the bottom.ā€ Youā€™re gonna love PWā€™ing. Stick around PWR and learn as much as you can.

Well, Iā€™ve come to the conclusion. I do not like pressure washing. At all. I donā€™t like the loud engines, I donā€™t like all the moving parts that will eventually break (Window cleaning has barely any moving parts, for everything)ā€¦I really donā€™t like smelling like exhaust and, franky-- bleach.

I find this to be a hassle for me, especially being one guy. I will think about it some more, but may just go another direction. I can keep my hose reel, and put 150 feet of 3/4 inch hose on it, and run my WFP system out of my truck like Iā€™ve wanted.

Hey, live and learn. I canā€™t return anything, but Iā€™m sure I can get some money back for the 5gpm washer, 19 inch whisper washer, 200 feet of high quality pressure hose, x-jetā€” they have about 4-5 hours on themā€¦lol.

To each their own, I say. I have no problems referring my friends at a 15 percent finders fee to do PW, and then I handle the windows. Some things just donā€™t need to be changedā€” many times we are too disillusioned by money-- when if you are doing the windows right, you are averaging 100/hr lolā€¦good enough for me.

I jumped the gun, I mean hey Iā€™m out about 800 dollars because this pressure washer was paid for by that 1400 stimulus check lol. Iā€™ve been out worse, many times LOL.

Live and learn. I am going to take it off my truck, and focus on window cleaning-- the reason I started my business. Maybe I will revisit in the summer.

Bummer. But if you donā€™t enjoy it, no sense in forcing yourself.

Personally, I kind of like the smell of exhaust and bleach, and seeing an entire house go from green to clean in a matter of an hour or two is super gratifying. Itā€™s the kind of result that can be seen from down the street. Hard to get quite the same level of satisfaction and recognition from window cleaning, imo. For me, the better money is just an added perk.

But yeah, thatā€™s just me. You do you.

Where are you located?

I assume this is for conversational purposes, so I will oblige.

The reason for starting a business is to make money. The need to make good money doing job you are comfortable with means if you arenā€™t already trained then you need to train yourself. You can be on your way to really good money washing windows, and/or pressure washing. How you go about that is up to you.

Motor on the pressure washer too loud? Donā€™t set it up right next you - use ear plugs too. Think of the gas and bleach smell (with cherry or lemon additive) as the smell of money - you are in business to make money, not fund a hobby. Donā€™t mean for that sound harsh, just the reality of the whole thing.

Perhaps do this until you are comfortable doing more ā€”> Practice with the pressure washer on sidewalks; just do sidewalks and get really good and proficient at it - since you have most of the equipment already - add a surface cleaner; General brand is a better one - that will make the pressure washing job sooooo much easier and faster. Right equipment, knowledge of how to use it = $$$$$.

Now you may decide that you just want to lick your wounds and go back to what you know - or your take away is an understanding that you need to know something new to do something new. The local place that you buy your pressure washing equipment and chemicals from will be a wealth of information. Add Youtube to the mix and you now are in your first semester of ā€œSTUā€ self taught university.

Think it over; you can stick to your diploma, or finish STU and get your degree towards a happy paycheck. Good luck on whichever it is.

I guess Iā€™m one of those loud machine loving, overweight chowder heads mentioned in this thread. I actually posted on this site to see if I and a window cleaner in STL can make a little more money. I have a lot of success in the power washing business partnering with complimentary businesses. If there are any window cleaners in the St Louis area (exclusively window cleaners not power washers) that donā€™t mind trading referrals let me know. Frequently people ask me to refer a window cleaner and am sure I would find more window business if I asked my customers BUT Iā€™m not interested in partnering with a competitor. Let me know. BY THE WAY Iā€™m not overweight (HTW proportional) but I do like chowder.
