Amazing washing up liquid " ECOVER " video

John and James know what they are talking about.

BTW, Mike is a smart person and knows the business, but he’s not afraid to learn something new.

I don’t doubt there experiences w/ Ecover but since European wcing frequencies are higher than our residential ones the chance of resoiling for us is higher. If we were just talking storefront then it might not matter but I don’t want my resi clients complaining that their windows got dirtier faster on the last cleaning. For that reason I need to test it myself and see if it will work in my situation.

Tony

That’s what it comes down to, trying it yourself. If you don’t like it, do your dishes with it.

I have 5 bottles on order. I am excited to kick gg4 and dawn to the curb.

It should work for you mistersqueegee below is a quote from a window cleaner in nsw australia who i believe do the same frequencies as you do in america!

I’d have to say that this mix is the best all round trad cleaner.

I’m surprised at how well it cuts through fat above sinks & finger prints around doors.
Today I had several internal Georgian doors in a home that I only clean twice a year. They have a greasy film on them from the gas heating & usually I use an alcohol spray that’s quite effective. Instead I tried “the mix” from my spray bottle. Heaps quicker!

Over all making the jobs much quicker. It’ll be interesting when I come back for repeats should be even easier.

but try it yourself and make your own mind up! but i think you will like it.

good quote from a similar window cleaner but it doesn’t address the concern of Tony’s (mistersqueegee) about how rapidly the windows will resoil. Tony and many others (myself as well) who feel that regular dishsoap leaves too much of a residue that attracts dirt are usually reluctant to steer away from products like GG4 which are specifically designed not to leave any residue. I’m guessing in the weeks and months to come we’ll have better feedback on this issue.

For the record, although I believe regular dishsoap leaves a residue, I’ve never had any problems using it, no complaints. Doesn’t mean there isn’t quicker resoiling, I just haven’t had any negative feedback. I believe so far from using Ecover that it may leave less residue as the glass appears crystal clear, similar to GG4 and the soap is also much thinner and less tacky than regular dishsoap.

I’ve been using GG4 for years and have been a big fan. I used Ecover with my GG4 and all by itself. I like it better alone because my gut tells me it leaves less on the window. I think John Germany is correct. He thinks Ecover leaves less on the window than GG4. However I have not thrown my large supply of GG4 down the drain yet. I will wait until my monthly and every two month storefronts definitly look as good or better than before after a few cycles of cleanings. That’s about 6 months.

I only tried it with GG4 once and I’ve decided Ecover on its own is better as well. The windows sure look crystal clear when they’re done. Better on greasy fingerprints for sure. i don’t have too many monthy accounts anymore as I’m around 95% residential so I’ll have to judge the resoiling issue some other way.

Mark,
No problem! I’ll test it for you. Haha

…what ever happens with the re-soiling issue ( outsides> insides less so)…( which is important and quite understandable ! )…never the less even if the re-soiling is slightly or a little more than theGG4… the ecover has proven that it is an essential detergent to have in your van for when your confronted with situations that need it . for example a Sun that is at its worst point…

To test the r-esoiling simply wash two windows down that are next to each other on the weather side of a house / building and come back and take a look over the coming weeks or even months… just makes sure when you do this test you apply equal amounts of detergent to 2 thoroughly washed out washers. and too keep it interesting !! wash 4 windows down

  1. one window with GG4 and tap water and the other GG$ and pure water !

  2. one window with Ecover and tap water and the other window with Ecover and pure water…

this will obviously show whats what … maybe Ecover works better on certain glass ?? and the GG4 also ??

what ever happens the Ecover does a great job at getting the glass streak and smear free. this is only detergent i have found to do that in all types of situations and on all types of glass in 20 + years of window cleaning… hand on heart i can safely say that i believe Ecover delivers safe and secure results in all situations . be it a sunny and hot room or what else… this is not about attacking GG4 this about seeing the effects of Ecover with my own eyes over the last 3 weeks…and making a decision to change because i genuinely believe this is quite a big step forward. in becoming as good as i can… wether its re-soills or not…

But Yeh mark and Tony have a point… but there should be room for both these detergents in your car… ! the question is which one will be emptying the quickest ?

John,
When would you use the GG4 because it would be better than using Ecover? Just wondering?

hi Mike… at the moment all i use is Ecover… i mentioned why and all the benefits… In Winter i obviously use a lot of hot water … with the GG4 . i found it smears or leaves rubber burn… dries out to quickly… (GG4 is not perfect )… to much when doing insides on certain windows… to come to the point with Ecover its like invisible… nothing smearing streaks… its what i call a safe bet… i cant explain it. i guess this is because of the lack coloring and certain chemicals…Gg4 has certain things in it which leave residue and smearing especially in a hot sun and in peoples homes here in Germany where they have the Heater below the window and its on in there bedrooms living room …in colder areas like outside …the GG4 is not bad… but all in all Ecover leaves less streaking and smearing- rubber burn significantly less than any other brand… its this coloring and chemicals in the other brands which is causing this… ( obviously dirty water too ) but i always apply fresh clean water from a bottle… the work here has to be almost 100 % perfect . this is why take such an interest in Ecover…for me its a major breakthrough… the question is how long will the windows remain clean . i too work like in The USA my jobs are 2-3 yearly and sometimes once yearly…

If your a real pro and like doing good work the Ecover is a must to have in your van or bucket IMO. because it offers more advantages than the GG4… this why this subject is not so hot in the Uk because they clean 2 weekly for about 10- 15 $ a house… they change there water twice a day ( not all but some ) and this is why it dont really matter. because there water is like the black hole of calcutta

all the best mike John

John,
So why is GG4 on your truck?

My GG4 is in the basement until I change my mind. Ecover is working great so far and I only carry things that I will use. Haha

I was wondering why the hair across Gar’s ace would be pointed in your direction today - he must be lurking on WCR. I hope he enjoys all the reading because all I see over there is a bunch of boring moderation bs.

My favorite posts have always been when no one has posted in a really long time and he sends out a blank email to check to see if it’s still working lol

I decided today to start a winter project to keep from dying of boredom. For every email he sends out I will be starting a “Gar’s Inner Thoughts” which will be a blog about what his email really means. I started today. Once I get up to 10 good ones I will post them on his forum.

Just started trying out Ecover today by squirting some on a white pad on my reach around for a first time in a long while clean. I’m happy so far. I’ll try it on a bunch of storefronts tomorrow.

Hi Mike !.. " Out of respect mate "… good point though my van is a bit cramped and every square inched saved would help… its only one gallon… but thats 28 square inches

Lots of windows today to clean … got eat a good breakfast today .

Regards John

Hey John,
I get it.

Not so obvious, I’ve never used hot water to clean windows. Why do you feel a need to in the winter?

I use hot water in the winter also, if I can get at it , it makes you hands feel good and it causes the soap to be way more functional Ergo when you do dishes in the sink do you use hot water or cold ? Hot is what causes the dishes to get cleaned much more effectively.

So the same can happen while cleaning windows, yes cleaning with cold water works just fine but hot or warm water works better, but one don’t need to go with it !

Still it’s sweet to stick your hands into hot water in the winter…

Ecover -Dave

PS…

Hot will not freeze faster then cold water, unless it has been boiling .

Dave
I have to agree. In the summer I fill my 6 gallon Jerry can with warm water and in the winter its hot water. Cold water doesn’t clean everybody knows that. Ever try to wash your hands in cold water. Its common sense!!
