If it makes you feel better everything turned out fine with him and we are still cool today. Youll be fine…
how big is his business now???
Look hear at Star Brite, and you will change your mind my friend…
I wouldn’t mind. Whats he/she doing home and why are they not working? You should be proud to hand him a piece of marketing material and show your actively trying to get more clients. Maybe it will make him do the same and stir up some real competition.
Just my thoughts
No i agree you have a point
Maybe he’s taking a day off, or he’s on vacation. Not all window cleaners work 6 days a week, 80 hours a week. Not that there is anything wrong with that. But that’s not my style. I think I would come to despise window cleaning, if I was doing it non-stop.
Good point Mike. I remember when I was cleaning windows 70 to 80 hours a week. I did hate it.
But If its a tueseday afternoon I’d be a little curious as to why said window cleaner is home.
I hate d2d sales people…they always knock at the worst of times.
I might just try the ole
“Hi, just in the area introducing ourselves…not trying to sell anything…just make some new Friend’s and give out business cards. If I can ever be of any service please let me know.” Kinda thing
The not trying to sell you anything approach works very very well from my experience selling services door to door all over the country. I would start with that. However…
I wouldn’t say you are trying to make friends though. Cuz really, that is not your main goal.
and NEVER just say if you need me please call!
Think of it like this: They have the window man at their door. If they don’t want a free estimate while you are standing right there, what makes you think they will when you aren’t there?
Offer them the free estimate you’ll be shocked by the percentage of people that say yes.
Knocking on peoples doors takes balls, big balls, so since you’ve already worked up the guts make the most of it.
I understand your hesitancy and not wanting to annoy people, but I knocked on doors for almost 3.5 years straight (no joke) in California, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. and my experience is most people are real nice, There is the occasional a-hole, but it’s rare. I can in all honesty tell you that I’ve only been yelled at twice going door to door.
I may have been one.
I think everyone that comes to my door wants me to convert to some religion, or sell bibles
As far as timing goes, I have had the most luck on saturdays between 9 and 3 in my area we have ALOT of multi-million dollar homes, problem is most of them are joint income households so there is no one home through the week until after 5 or 6. I get ****ed if a telemarketer calls me after 6 so I would be fuming if someone knocked on my door when I’m trying to have dinner with my family.
Abso freakin lutely.
word
even if they said something nice like: “your wife is hot.”
Well you’ve gotten a lot of great advice so far. Have you gone knocking yet??
What’s your experience been like so far?
Still on the topic, does anyone condone cold calling d2d on Sundays?
I’ts just when a business is in it’s early stages of development you need to take advantage of every possible minute of free time.
i don’t think i would have the neck to do so though.
am i right?
Rob I worked as a telemarketer for years when I was in high school.
Sunday returned the best results because so many people are home.
Our business shuts down on Sundays now, but for the first 3-4 years we worked.
O cool, and you don’t think they will be majorly pi**ed off?
what be it with sunday percieved as being a day of rest and so on.
Well I wouldnt really be… But I know of others that would be mad.
