Remember Ecover?

To start “took you long enough to respond.” I never said it wasn’t real so please don’t include me as EVERYONE. But I can see why some people are irritated. For one, not everyone here had the time or resources to locate and read every printed article about mr windowcleaner. As a matter of fact I’ll bet I’m not alone in saying YOU are the first person to bring some of those points to the fore. Also Maybe a link would be helpful (hint hint.). And I’m all for giving him a shot. But at the same time I would like to sample the product. To this point tho I have not recognized anyone who has been quoted as saying its an awesome product. And all of those guys make it sound “too good to be true”. We all know the saying. Anyways, glad I’m important enough to get quoted by you Caleb. I’m honored.

Ok, I’ll take you up on the offer. How do I buy it now?

I do not do facebook. Got a website?

Ok if you guys have a WCM - issue 12 JULY 2014read here page 38-42 it will give you a better understanding on what it is!

I am about half way through the gallon I ordered (didn’t think a free sample would do much) and it’s pretty good stuff.

i personally prefer gg4 but it has more to do with preference than anything.

im going to give the rest of the gallon to the guys and see what they think

Is the price in US dollars? You had pounds down in the price.

I’ll order it tomorrow evening.

Thanks

Haha jeesh! It’s been a long day…

continue on

thanks for taking my words out of context and twisting them to work for you. the point is, ALMOST NO PRoDUCT EVER is successful unless it’s marketed by someone- inventor, marketing team, whoever.

Again, how many times have you seen the CEO of Titan telling us how GREAT GG3 and GG4 are? You don’t. If the creator has to tell YOU why it’s such a great product, there is your first clue.

were you around like 20 YEARS AGO when these products first came on the scene? do you have any idea what the Titan Labs guys did when their products first came on the scene?

Really? Without a soap, where is the glide?

motor oil doesn’t have soap. wd40 doesn’t have soap. crisco doesn’t have soap. all seem pretty slippery to me. do you actually know anything about chemistry?

It isn’t about absorbing 25 bucks. It’s about tossing money in the toilet. Do you buy every trinket?

do you automatically assume everything you don’t understand is snake oil or a trinket? maybe he is being a bit vague, but those who automatically pass final judgement on a product before exploring it’s possibilities are just being ignorant. which is worse?

Ok so I’ve confirmed that the cost for one liter of mr windowcleaners secret sauce is $41.00 shipped to the USA (MERICA).

$27 of that is shipping, meaning that the cost of product alone is $14 usd.

One liter of product makes 25 gallons of solution.

So let’s do some math 25 gallons @$14 dollars = 0.56 cents per gallon

GG4 is about $40 for a gallon, there are 3.785 liters in a gallon so 1 liter of GG4 would cost approx. $10.56 per liter of product makes 135 gallons of solution.

GG4 is approx .07 cents per gallon

So now apples to apples

Secret sauce $14 = 25 gallons of window cleaning goodness.

GG4 $11= 135 gallons of shiny glass

Now the question … Is it an awesome window cleaning solution… Probably is!!!

Is it worth the money for what you get?.. Answer your own dang question.

Gosh. Don’t know what the big deal is here. It’s not as if you’re buying gold for goodness sake.

I’ve been back window cleaning now for 7 years. Originally used Unger Zero degree and Ettore squeegees and GG4 was slip/soap of choice. Changed to Wagtail PC’s and Combis early last year and found GG4 didn’t have enough slip for my liking. Changed to ECover and then 6 months ago to Ecover/IPA. (I believe it was Jim who introduced us all to ECover and the additions). I have the utmost respect for Jim so when he and his friends in the UK started experimenting and singing the praises of “Jim’s Mix” (as it was known then) I was more than prepared to hand over some dollars to “take a punt”. A couple of weeks ago I received my x2 500ml bottles. I have been experimenting and using it full time. So, for the record. 2x capfuls per 5 litres of water (this if trad, not WFP). Sharp fresh squeegee blades. Use it as you would any other ‘slip’. Now, it takes some getting used to. About the same amount as slip as GG4, but no suds whatsoever, this is not a soap. Melts fingerprints, bird, bee and fly crap, leave it to dwell for a short time on sellotape residue and a quick rub removes it totally. The trick seems to be to have a really light touch with the squeegee. I use it internal and external. The finish is unbelievable, better than ECover/IPA (I was, and still am very happy with the finish that provides). The acid test for me will be the condition of the glass on the next cycle of cleans. From what the UK guys have been experiencing I am hoping for a more relaxing month next month.

My take on it:

  • I am against using anything with a hydrophobic/phillic additive in it. Ive seen major problems come from it, and probably more harm than good. I’m not condemning this product, as I know nothing about it and have not tried it, but in my experience, additives are a no no.

  • We don’t clean windows for the fun of it. We do it for money. Why would you want to use a product that IN THEORY reduces future calls?

  • The UK is an entirely different ballgame than the US, but my second point is still valid for the UK. It also seems that people switch window cleaners often there. Are you a WFP guy? I am. Have you ever tried to clean a window with a hydrophobic/phillic coating on it with a WFP? Its not fun, at all. I actually had to let a ten-plus-thousand-of-dollars-a-year client go because their properties were all treated with RainX.

You couldn’t even clean them traditional. The windows were ruined by the coating.

Maybe this product is good. Maybe its not. i need to see what happens over time before I try it though.

WFP does this… since your not coating glazing in a film of “sticky” detergents… and leaving them “sterile”.

There is a difference between “perfectly clean”, as in cleaned with WFP, leaving no residue, and a product that claims to have “self cleaning properties”

But that was your 1st point, and nothing to do with the 2nd point, pointed out.

BTW,

if you read the article posted previously (link below), you’ll see that it breaks down dirt from it raining by the solution being retained in the glass cracks.

It improves hydrophobic properties for the WFP method making them easier to clean with no spotting…

But yet, I’ve not used it, and I agree that the guy’s sketchy posts about it haven;t sold it very well.

However when it goes on sale from a proper website/supplies company and i’m not sending money to any random blokes email address, I’ll happily get some and try it out.

i would just buy.a sample and give it ago you have nothing to lose and maybe a whole to gain… even if you dont want to use it for glass… if you spray down white pvc frames and metallic sills ( like we have in Germany quite often ) for example it seems to me to dwell and not dry out and also the wiping of the dirt on the frame is a lot easier… the question is will this prevent my frames from getting soiled as quick ( big plus point if its all systems go ) and will it also prolong the life and the look of the frame ? … without having a crystal ball i think it " MAY " just do that ! … i have been using it to spray down frames and sills on the outside where the dirt is at its most ( it breaks up the dirt ) and it seems to work strangely very well indeed

How did you apply your rainex ?

Rest assured, I didnt apply it lol

That makes TWO of us. If it makes the glass hydrophobic, I will be very unhappy with this product. I do not plan to run an initial test with a clients windows. If something would go unfavorably, it would make me look the fool.

I’ll buy it and try it out. He was willing to back it 100% shipping and all, were I not happy. So the gamble is with his money. Gotta give a guy credit that will put his money where his mouth is.

For clarification for the other US guys… Our price is just over $40 dollars. This better be some AWESOME product is all I can say. I still don’t know how much is in what he is sending. GG4 is 40 bucks a gallon here…
