I have a few brass channels all ready to be sized for whatever panes I come across…

And I thought I was building a collection! lol.

I prefer the steccone featherlight channels for cutting. They have a little more heft to them for rigidity and ruggedness, but aluminum cuts so much easier than any other metal. I’ve found the pulex aluminum channels to be kinda flimsy, and only useful for the shorter lengths.

If you’re going to be cutting a lot of channels at once, I would highly recommend getting a cheap cut-off saw, like the one harbor freight sells. Just be real gentle with it, and let the saw do the work.

While you’re at it, cut the ends of all your squeegees at 45 degrees (and dogear them, of course!). That’s been a huge help to me for fanning windows, and getting in close to corners without bumping the frames. Much less detailing!

I’m all for being prepared but… dang!

I’ve been looking at that for quite a while. How’s the quality?

I have a steccone 12" on a wagtail handle, it’s so light but I do love it. I also have a 12" brass squeegee that I’ve been using since i started cleaning windows.

Each have advantages and disadvantages, so I always have both in the truck.

I want to dog ear some channels, i started with a stainless steel 16" Ettore channel. I just can’t figure it out just yet, I’ve been practicing with it on route work so far

If you’ve got the time for it, this Polzn Bladz video is a great watch (perhaps a bit wordy, but I won’t fault him for that):

Easily my favorite window cleaner to watch and learn from

I dont recommend it. I like having that third pocket but this thing uses so such belt space.

want extra room for stuff without taking up belt space?

answer: cargo shorts

throw your bronze wool, white pads, track brushes & magic erasers into your spacious cargo shorts and ditch the skinny jeans

Thanks for the heads up Josh. But I do like the color…

Freakin hilarious!

Hmm well i figured I should post how I roll, i don’t wear a belt 90% of the time. Only if I am up a ladder and i need a crap load of stuff, but just for general window cleaning I would never wear one. Just the way i was taught, when your wearing a harness most of the time a belt just gets in the way and makes it uncomfortable.

But here is my resi setup

I have a boab and a belt that I set up after this thread started, but I could not get used to it and it slowed me down drastically,I also knocked over some stuff in peoples homes so I ditched it after trying it for a month.
So used to just holding my gear in which ever hand isn’t busy, I always wash up with the left and squeegee with the right whenever practical, catching the drips with the washer. I have always rested my gear on he top of the bucket, damp but not dripping when not in use.

Cool… Thanks for posting a pic of your setup Steve!

Hopefully the things you knocked over weren’t breakable!

So anyone else like to add any pics of their New 2014 workbelt setups!

Have had some health and time issues Steve. Will post when I can. Great thread!
