The twisty ties and the spring clamp are for all sorts of things such as holding back curtains, holding a detail rag onto the end of the pole, etc. I got the idea from somewhere else on this forum.

They are handy. Did you get the 12"?

I posted about them a couple of pages back and since then I’ve used them to hold back neon signs as well.

almost 500 posts on this thread…

thought I’d throw a little different spin…

ā€˜chair setup’ :

pretty new to rope work, about a year in, I’m still customizing my office seat.

snapped a couple photos today;

utility bucket; extra towel, scrubber, dremmeled squeegee hole to minimize wear on the rubber, earth magnet buried in the wood to hold a 1" blade, short pole, and…

bucket (held close) w/ utility carabiner (extra cup, whatever else, on both sides), extra rope guards to protect straps and be available, and

sponge, safety, and another cup in bucket (extra rubber is in there somewhere)

bucket-on-a-chair to keep drips off the wall and balconies, clips onto my harness with a carabiner, keeps mop wet.

that’s my setup…

Do you have any bungee cords on that washer?

Or squeegees, for that matter? I wonder what the terminal velocity of a Sorbo squeegee is…

negative. too many hand to hand tool shuffles to deal with lanyards or bungees…

Do you tie off your gear?

haven’t let go yet…

I think around 85 mph… I post cones and tape off traffic areas. and try not to drop gear… knock on glass…

I did rope work for over 10 years I would always tie off my gear, that being said all we would carry is a bucket, washer, squeegee and a sucker( occasionally a pole).
I worked with a guy who never tied off his gear, we were working together and he was telling me how he had never ever dropped anything, 2 mins later he drops his washer 8 stories.
Here is is legally required that you have all and every tool be secured, personally I would hate to drop a squeegee and have it hit the building and fly out into the public and kill someone.

We would also have to bunt off the area measuring 15 feet from the building edge out and 15 feet in each direction from the drop,we are not permitted to use tape or cones we are required to use these orange bollards with the orange barrier mesh. Along with a few working above signs.

If there is any more high rise guys that would like to post their ā€œworkbelt setupsā€ that would be cool…

So is anyone changing their work belt setups for this winter? If so post up your ideas or pics thanks!

not to derail (its happened a couple times) but,

your right, the drop zone needs to be ā€œclosed by barriersā€ but, (according to ANSI 3.10) a competent person shall decide if any or all tools need to be tied off and/or lanyard-ed to the worker.

I looked and failed to find a photo of a ā€˜high-rise’ worker using tools that were tied to their person.

I ran a search of ā€˜high rise window cleaning’ on youtube and couldn’t find anyone with anything tied off.

dealing with a bunch of strings everywhere seems unfeasable and unsafe. I’m on the wall and think it’s a bad idea,
but, you’ve got ten years in and I’m listening… I am.

shuffeling gear on (3xwides : 12 feet each stop) is a pain already without strings everywhere.

thanks man, Ill try to get some more photos of i how use my equipment up on this thread to make up for the rant.

sorry to all for the ā€˜off topic’

~jimmy~

It doesn’t surprise me that you guys are not required by law to have tools attached, things here tend to be quite a bit more strict.
This is how i would set my chair up not a great pic bucket on the left with a telephone cord as the bungee to the washer, right side the squeegee on a telephone cord as the bungee to a crab on my chair.

wow, much respect lots of ā€˜safe’… I can’t imagine.

thanks for the reply, guess you gotta be here to see what I’m sayin. cheers

It’s cool this time…:stuck_out_tongue:

That would be cool ā€œIll try to get some more photos of i how use my equipment up on this thread to make up for the rantā€
